Challenge: Front-Buttoning "House Dress" Nightgown in Jersey Tshirt Material?
A friend just had extensive abdominal surgery and anything touching her middle is painful. I asked if a button-down nightgown would work best for her, and she said it would be a wonderful solution for her. She requested that nightgown be made of t-shirt material. In other words, super soft against her delicate and damaged tummy.
When I was growing up, older ladies used to wear housedresses. They were nightgowns that buttoned all the way up the front, from hem to neck.
I'm not having much luck finding something like this. Any help would be appreciated. I'd like to order them very soon and have them FedEx'd to me immediately.

it looks like flannel though.
If my cousin was closer I could ask her to make what I think you want, but she lives 3,000 miles away. I know she could probably whip up what you need though she is a whiz on the machine.
@hobbit: Even though it is flannel (she's sooo cold all the time), that gown would have worked, but it is a small, and I need a large. I have a friend who, like your cousin, is a whiz on the sewing machine. (I think her machine cost about as much as a car.) If I can't find anything on my own, I may ask her to sew a couple for me.
@debbiedunlap: hang on then I found other flannels
@hobbit: Found that house dresses are also called dusters. Once I read that, I remembered that term.
@debbiedunlap: I think a flannel duster may be exactly what you are looking for. Here are a few choices:

I do quite a bit of online shopping for my neighbor who has health problems (scleroderma is just one) and she needs very soft fabrics also but she cannot manage snaps or buttons very well...I try to find her items in Jersey Knit for the warmer months and flannel in the wintertime.
Good Luck, Bless-you and Stay strong!!
Debbie, would anything from here possibly work? http://www.oldpueblotraders.com/catalog/category.jsp?parentCategoryId=356&categoryId=381 They have a good range of sizes and fabrics.
Sorry to be getting back so late with my thanks. I've been sitting by sick beds the majority of the day.
Thank you all SOOO much for your help. You've found several nighties that should work well for my friend. Thank you all for helping make a tough time a little more comfortable for her.
