When I'm searching on Amazon for a product I look at only Prime offered items first, then go back and search the non-prime items.

I too would pay about a $1 or $2 more as it ensures I receive the item within 2 days, and I've never had any issue when purchasing anything that is processed through Amazon.

As long as the dealer is reputable, I'd stick with the cheaper option, regardless of shipping speed. If you factor in what you pay for Prime, you end up paying more than 61 cents... unless you've found a way to indefinitely renew your Amazon Student membership :D

@bjo2314: I still have a few months left of my free year of amazon prime for students. I will renew for like $39 (Half off) I think before it expires. So prime is always great, and I do a lot of buying on amazon.com not to mention watching VOD which is also a great addition to Prime memberships.

I also would pay a dollar or two more to enjoy the free 2 day shipping from Amazon Prime. But, often, Amazon has the best price anyway. I also have the Amazon credit card, and I get double points on purchases from Amazon, so I prefer to buy the Amazon product for that reason as well. Now that I can get cash back for the points (or be lazy and use the points online to pay for another Amazon purchase) the card is my favorite.
I also pay no tax when ordering from Amazon.

I always sort results for total cost (price plus shipping), so I mainly look at the out of the wallet cost for an item. If the seller with the lowest cost has a questionable rep, they get skipped.

This question kind of ignores reality. Time can be more of a factor than cost.

If I'm buying something and need it soon, a few dollars extra doesn't even take consideration.

But when I don't care how long it takes? I will go the cheapest route everything single time. (Unless of course I really hate the company)
