Has anyone tried a digital camera with built in GPS for geotagging?
I'm thinking of getting the new Canon PowerShot SX230 HS:

The key feature here is that it includes GPS with trail logging. This is important to me, as I like to geo-tag my photos when I go hiking so I know exactly where they were taken. Right now, I have to make sure my camera and hand held GPS unit have the same time, and use some software to add the tagging. Is this worth the extra expense? Is this camera just nice on it's own and this is an added bonus?
One of the bonuses with this camera is that it uses the same battery as my current Canon, so I'll have a couple extra batteries already.

Does the one in my phone count? It's good for getting back to where you've been but as far as I'm concerned it's just one more creepy bit of exif data that needs to be deleted for everyones privacy sake before uploading to the web. BTJMTC
My android does it. however, if you have an android there are apps like:

Okay, I understand that smartphones do this, but that is not what I'm looking for. My phone does not have enough battery life to be considered good for backpacking or hiking AND be used for photography, plus the photos are never as good as a stand alone point-and-shoot.
I know a professional photographer (he takes pictures for zoos and wildlife magazines) and he LOVES the cameras with the geolocation capabilities. He can look through his pictures and know exactly where they were taken. It is especially handy when you think that the background will be the similar at different locations. If you can spring for it, it would be worth it.
Another option - Take pictures with your point-and-shoot and then take a single picture with your smart phone. In some software, you can copy and paste geolocation information. That is what I do since I don't want to spring for the extra money required for a smarter camera. That being said, the copied information will not transfer to other programs (generally), whereas the geolocation information that is in the pictures FROM the camera will transfer (or should) to all programs. Just some food for thought.
I have a Panasonic Lumix ZS10, best compact camera ever!
It has GPS for geotagging, but I leave it off. No matter what, you'll have a slugging time connecting to the Satellite on any GPS enabled camera. Phones are generally much faster because they can track where you are from wifi and 3G signals nearby.
