I would love an app (...for my Touchpad muhahahah). But at the same time I feel like I could just as easily go to the website.

Are you asking Woot to create an official one to just someone fancy to program one?

vote-for1vote-against

so here's a perfect example - I can't do a "reply" to you, because the reply link is a "hover over" revealed link. So is the tattle link.

I don't care if the app comes from Woot or some enterprising independent developer, but I would be willing to pay money for that app. Not a huge amount of money, though. Maybe a dollar or two.

Oo... I'd even pay money for that.

(deals.woot really sucks on an iPad with Safari. Now that I'm thinking about it, I've never tried it with any of the other browsers I have... Maybe I've been sufferring more than necessary when I try to use it.)

@durkzilla:

Actually, you can. First vote for his comment to select it (you can immediately unvote) and then the reply link will appear.

I can't say for the iPad, but tapping inside a comment on an Android device, voting or not - doesn't matter, will count as hovering and cause the reply link to be visible.

@baqui63: You can also tap on the "time ago" counter on the right side of each post. For example, I tapped "an hour ago" to reply to you. The post will be selected.

@gregorylikescheapstu: Outstanding! Thanks for that pointer. I would still like to see a Deals.Woot! app, though.

@captainsuperdawg: Definitely an "it".

Yea I'll think about it!

vote-for4vote-against

Ok, I'll do it. Here's the process I'm thinking of going about:
Mobile app for android
port it to iOS
I'll be sure to work in an SDK that will make that easy. (I heard corona SDK was good for this? Any other suggestions?)

After thinking about it for a half hour, I have some great ideas/features...I just need to figure out how to do it as I've never made an app before. I have a programming background, and a B.S. in Computer Engineering, so I'm sure I'll figure it out. I do have a full-time job, so this may take a little while (my goal is to have a working project in a month, but again..never done this before, so I have no idea).

If somebody anywhere is already making a mobile app, please contact me somehow so I dont waste my time ;)

So the real question is ? If it's good enough will they hook you up with some free shipping coupons ? Maybe they could offer a bounty for best app with some prizes. This might get it rolling faster as they have mentioned it numerous times that "one day" maybe they could call there buddies over at amazon and get some tips.

What do you think ? The race for the best app ? @shrdlu @capguncowboy

Though in order to convenience us it was a deal you would have to make your app $5 then make it on sale for $1. Just throwing that out there. Cause if its just $1 all the time then were is the deal in that ;-)

@djbowman: Not sure why you wanted me to comment on this. Even if I had an iPad (I don't), or any tablet (I don't), I would still not be interested in an application that provided me access to Woot or to Deals.

Nothing holds my attention forever. So it goes.

@zarfus: That's awesome man. Your imminent hard work is appreciated. :)
