What phone/data provider can I get a prepaid plan with for visiting Vancouver, BC?
My wife and I will be honeymooning in and around Vancouver BC and spend a couple of days in Seattle, WA as well.
I have US Cellular and she has a standard (basic) Verizon plan currently.
My phone (Motorola Electrify AKA Photon 4G) has support for a SIM card and I wouldn't mind doing something like that.
Looking to be able to use my phone as needed in Vancouver and the surrounding areas.
US Cellular has spotty coverage in WA and no coverage in Canada.
Verizon used to have a program for a little bit more that covered Canada and could be turned off and on as needed - this was as recent as 2 years ago. I had a son that I was paying the phone bill on who traveled there as an OTR driver. It saved some in the long run. Might be worth pinging their site to look at the details or drop by a corporate store (don't go to anything that isn't a corporate store - their answer to every issue is to sell you a new phone and contract).
when i visit vancouver my (gsm) phone says i'm roaming on rogers wireless.
i googled and found a list of pay-as-you-go-plans for canada: http://www.theblog.ca/pay-as-you-go
ymmv, caveat emptor, etc.
