You can buy any brand of bits for it. I've never seen a bit I couldn't use.

Take a look at your chuck. That's the part where you put in bits.

Notice how it gets bigger and smaller? That means it can accept any bit that's smaller than it's maximum diameter.

As long as the shank fits into the chuck, you can shove just about anything in there.

@anotherhiggins: "As long as the shank fits into the chuck, you can shove just about anything in there."

That's what she said.

@ganzhimself: I was debating how to ask if there was innuendo in that statement...I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw it!

@ganzhimself: And don't forget that it's battery powered.

If you have to ask this, you might want to avoid power tools altogether.

Maybe I'm slow/naive/ignorant/stupid (add any other word you wish), but I think this is a valid question. Not all of us KNOW this stuff unless we ask. Appreciate those who explained. Thank you!

An aside: I 'thought' I knew the answer; I was correct. In my case it was trying out other bits that did not come w/my drill. Some should quantam leap back to having no knowledge and remember what that was like.

@tsfisch: Geeez - give a girl a break. I have used "borrowed" drills in the past. Makita & Dewalt, but family/friends were kind enough to supply all of the necessary "accessories" & patient enough to show me how to use them. Anywho, I was a good girl this year & Santa brought me my very own power drill! So I'm excited to get started. But seriously, I do appreciate the feedback good or bad. I can learn from it all!

@gmwhit: I think the downvotes might also be coming from folks who think the OP is attempting a Reputation Run by posting so many questions today.

@sweetpea113377: If they fit, no harm done. I do the same thing buying different brand accessories for my Dremel since Dremel seems pretty darned proud of their little doodads.

@lavikinga: You hurt my feelings. To think, that I would have anything other the honorable intentions is, is, is ....well RIGHT ON THE MONEY! To be clear though, it only started out that way but I grew to love woot & now I have to come clean. I admit some initial votes were random and I did post some deals that I wasn't really feeling. But the questions, I can promise you are ALL real. Side note: I wish I could post a pic of the 7 mouse traps(glue & old school) with my boots in the center as mouse bait for you to see. I mean come on I have been a member since summer 2010 & I just started voting, posting, asking & commenting a couple of days ago. Of course Im gonna have to feel my way around & learn how it all works & get some stuff out of my system. Anyway, I want you & the woot community to know that I will not abuse the systems for personal gain ever again. I hope you will find it in your hearts to forgive me.

Oh & I almost forgot. I purchased the "DEWALT DW1163 13 Piece Black Oxide Split Point Twist Drill Bit Assortment" from Amazon for $9.18. So thanks for the feedback. Much apprecciated.

@sweetpea113377: You can't go wrong with Dewalt gear. And thanks for the honesty.

@lavikinga: You said, " I think the downvotes might also be coming from folks who think the OP is attempting a Reputation Run by posting so many questions today."

Ahhh. I didn't realize that. Looked at the question itself, not who asked it. Still believe it's a valid question & should be treated as such.

I find asking questions difficult at best. The fact that they are included in determing your rep is absurd. Many, many people have asked empty, ridiculous questions to boost their rep. IMO, this one is a valid question, whether or not it was asked to gain rep.

Hopefully, @snapster will go forward with changing the ?=rep issue based on the input received on the question he asked recently re:Chat which evolved into ?/rep. issue.
