Pretty cool (yet pathetic at the same time). I think I may start using bing if it gets me gift card rewards!

Of course my first thought was I wish Google did this! But we'll see how long it actually takes to accrue points etc and if its worth the annoyance. Though I have the same problem with this that I do an ipad. Dang this is cool but I wonder how I could put windows on it.

They could pay me 5 dollars a search and I'd still use Google. Any experiences I've had seaching on Bing leave me with a list of nonsense with 1 relevant website.

They're grasping straws. This is also shown by the Xbox voice search release. No thanks Microsoft, just admit you've lost this one.

here's a link http://www.bing.com/rewards/signup/
or go to bing and click at the bottom. mine showed it as "earn xbox live rewards"
here's the stuff you can get https://ssl.bing.com/rewards/redeem

I agree @woothulhu it's time for them to focus on what they are good at. Give up on bing and give up on mobile devices they have been sucking at both for years now.

I'm not arguing, I'm almost at 3 months of free Hulu.
I do like that they will be added to Xbox in the fall with voice searching.

I took a quick look and it seems like the reward points will accumulate slowly.

I'm still going to do it though, just to get a $5 Amazon gift card (about 500 points).

If you install the bar it has a special drop down section of special offers. I dont know how often it updates but I got like 30 points just for clicking on links

They had a similar program about 2 years ago. I accumulated enough points to get an XBox controller.

@woothulhu:
Bing is no Google, but if you don't use either frequently, you wouldn't be aware that since Bing has become more and more prevalent, many of the features unique to Bing have been picked up by Google.

The better Bing is, the better our search options are as Google and Bing will force eachother to increase the value of their competing products.

I can be bought. I definitely registered to earn rewards.

Not to mention that because I use Internet Explorer, everytime I mistype a URL, IE uses Bing to search for the website. Since I'm a terrible typist that happens a lot and now I won't be so annoyed to see Bing pop-up since I'll be earning (albeit slowly) points towards gift cards.

After having tried to use bing all day well all morning I cant stand it I find myself searching on it then just switching on to Google. Blah not worth the points after all for the frustration.

well one good thing if anyone does try it and then decides it's not for them.. you get 250 instant points just for signing up and not doing anything else.

there are some charities in the redeem link that M$ will donate $1 for 100 points.

I use google exclusively. even the comcast search bar "enhanced by google" is no good. I have tried many over the years and it still comes back go Google.

I stopped using bing when they changed their rewards to force more prolonged participation. I was just starting to get comfortable using it over Google too, but I hate it when companies do stuff like that, so I vowed never to use them again and have been ignoring their e-mails.

@sykotek: Very much the same here, joined Bing for Microsoft Xbox points, ended with a very sour taste in my mouth. Google is easier, more effective and with Chrome as a browser, much more streamlined than Bing will ever be.

@sykotek @mikeymet: The problem is you actually used it as a search engine. You should just log in and keep clicking random stuff on the left side until points stop accumulating takes maybe 2 mins. Then go back to good ole' Google.

search results seem fine for me, I'm getting what I was looking for.

And god forbid a company should give us something for using their free service! I don't get the complaints about getting something for free.
