When people buy a droid do they still carry their ipod touch?
Thinking of gifting someone a droid razr for Christmas, but this person loves his ipod touch for music, games, etc. Will the droid satisfy all these needs? Or do people just end up carrying both devices?

There might be someone out there who carries both, but no one I know does.
I stopped carrying my iPod when I got my Android. I thought about carrying my iPod to the gym so it would still have a function, but that never really happened, either. I just use my phone for music at the gym. My poor iPod has been sitting, ignored, for over a year*.
And there are lots of games available for Android, too. A year or two ago, Apple was beating Android when it came to quality of games, but not anymore (IMHO).
* I don't want this to turn into a Apple vs Android flame war, but my iPod's battery was getting to the point where it didn't hold a charge very long anyway. And with a battery that isn't intended to be user-replaceable it wasn't a hard decision to abandon it.
I like having an ipod nano so I don't have to lug 2 huge devices around. I love my droid but I can't stand to use my phone for music.
If he uses a smart phone already, I'd say go for it. But it sounds like he might not, then it might be an issue, but I can't imagine he'd turn down a sweet phone just because it would get in the way of his ipod touch.
I do... I don't know why, but I don't like using my phone as a music player... I do everything else on the phone but music... The interface on the iPod is just nicer. I guess my next phone will be an iPhone for that reason.
I stopped using my iPod when I got my Droid. I use my phone to listen to a local station and also use Amazon Cloud for music I've purchased. I always have my phone with me, so it makes more sense for me to just use it. My iPod is now just for the car with an FM transmitter (Can't get an adapter without replacing the entire head unit, which is not in budget).
What's an Ipod?
If your friend doesn't have a smartphone already or were not planning on buying one, and you're not ready to pay for their data fees every month then I would recommend against buying one.
You're basically saying, here's a free gift to you, but it will cost you 35 a month if you want to use it.
Why do I carry and iPhone and an iPod?
I use the phone for phone and internet, iPod for music. I have a 2nd iPod at home just for games.
@wickedd365: I got a droid for all of that! ;)
If the person loves their iPod touch, is it possible they would prefer an iPhone to a Droid anyway? That way they can have a single device for everything and all their apps will still be usable on the iPhone...
I had a classic iPod and I don't think I used it a single time after getting my iPhone. I love having one device for everything.
Personally, I only have my iPod sitting in a woot speaker dock at home; it never leaves. I carry my droid with me everywhere and have google music (so, I have all my music in the cloud). The player is already very good and it will continue to get better. Unless I'm going on a trip, I don't ever need to download music to my phone. I'm guessing he'll either dock his iPod or sell it.
I'd say a phone is a pretty personal thing to get, especially if it's not unlocked.
As @alpayton noted, the person already has an iPod; it's possible they'd prefer an iPhone over a Droid.
As I always tell me friends and family when they ask me for phone/tablet advice, are you one who likes everything to look uniform and to function without a lot of adjusting settings and customization? If so, get an iPhone. If, however, you enjoy customizing your PC or Mac and you enjoy tinkering, then get an Android.
On the question of whether or not he'd carry both, I've seen those who carry multiple devices and those who don't. I would venture a guess to say that most carry one device, using their phone for music, too.
@coolphilip04: Yeah, covering the monthly fee is part of the deal. I couldn't give the phone alone in this case.
@alpayton: This is a perfectly logical question - one I also asked. He does actually want the droid.
@gthuffines: The iPhone will do it all too, I just like to save my battery.
Plus I'd rather hand someone my iPod to look at my music than my phone. They can break the iPod, not that big of a deal. The phone would be horrible.
