They are there, under your tab. I suspect what you are seeing is the database problem where it sometimes takes a while for deals to show up on fresh.

@hobbit: I do see it under my tab. What I was trying to say is if you look under the fresh tab, you will see the last post I made about 3 hours ago. You will also see 2 deals I posted a couple of days ago, but what people won't see are the 2 deals I just recently posted because it doesn't have pictures. You only will see them once you click on "+ show more deals from..."

I hope I made sense. Thanks for the reply!

@t8ig3r: yeah a little default exclamation point or something would be good so you know that they are there

vote-for4vote-against

@tygerdave: Yeah, having a default exclamation point would be perfect! Definitely suits Woot"!" I'm glad you see this too. Shouldn't be too hard for the programmers to add in yeah?

I'm looking into the default exclamation point idea.

@shawnmiller: Anytime! I love solving problems and then not having to code them myself! hmmmm I think I need to get into management

@tygerdave: Thanks for the idea!

@shawnmiller: Looking forward to it! Thanks!

@t8ig3r: I'm glad you posted this; I had the same issue a few days ago also. Until they decide on the default exclamation point, I've also tattled on a deal I've just posted under "other" and asked that a store icon, etc. be added as the image for my deal. It solves the disappearing when collapsed issue in a roundabout way.

Another possible solution is Tattling. Ask the wootstaff to add a picture for you. I have in the past when a picture was not available and they have been really quick about getting one posted for me. If the picture is a default generic pic I might glance over it, whereas if it had a pic of a Wii I would definitely check it out.

The reason why your posts were hidden is not because they did not have pictures, but because they were collapsed:

It works a lot like Google's "show more results from site.com" except instead of collapsing on the domain name, we collapse on the username of the member who added the deal. We think it should help prevent enthusiastic new members for dominating the fresh tab. Here's how it works:

- On the fresh tab we collapse multiple deals submitted by a member into a single entry
- Once a member adds more than one deal to the fresh tab you'll see a "show more deals from username" link with a set of tiny thumbnails
- Click the "show more" link and we'll show you up to five additional deals added by the member
- If the member has added more than five deals to the fresh tab, you'll see a "show all deals from username" link.

This is our first iteration of the "foldering" feature @snapster outlined a while back.

@perkalicious11: & @theoneill555: Yeah, I'm glad I brought this to their attention. Tattling to the woot staff sounds like a good idea, I just didn't want to add onto their already full plate.

Although, you are right about how people can skip over generic pictures and your post will have lack of exposure. Perhaps if a picture doesn't exist, have the poster find a picture from another site and link it themselves? People won't have to bother the woot staff as much. =)

@josefresno: Hmm, I understand the foldering feature and I think it is neat. But I did have five deals listed on the fresh tab and all I saw was just 2 that had pictures, while the other 2 that did not have pictures did not appear in the tiny thumbnails. It wasn't until I clicked on "+ show more deals", then I saw the remaining 2 without pictures.

@t8ig3r: I always felt bad about tattling and asking for a picture, but without the functionality to add one myself, I'm not left with many better options.

I like the ! idea as a default!

@josefresno: makes total sense to me, I never look at the tiny thumbnails anyway. I look at the user name to first with the collapsed deals. Check them out, then open up their deals, unless it is someone I know then I just open up their collapsed deals to see what they have posted. I would like to point out that what @josefreson said is what I said in my initial post TVM.

I tend to open (almost) everyone's collapsed deals at once just so I can scroll and see all the pictures. If there's no mini pix next to the "show more deals by [username]" part I generally won't catch that to expand when I open all of the collapsed parts.

This would happen when a user posted a first deal without an image then a second deal, causing the first to collapse. The "show more deals" link appears, but it doesn't stand out like the little box with the mini-image does.
