Is there a way to vote against something? Some deals are NOT good deals!
I'd like to see a way to vote against a deal, and have both positive and negative counts show. This will help you cull out deals that won't go over well here.

Not at this time. We just don't vote for something. It doesn't get voted up, works so far.
There have been discussions in the past and based on a consensus of the staff and beta testers, it was deemed ineffective to have down voting. I believe the main issue is block voting.
I like to see unusual things (even if they may not be deals) as well as items that are actually going to save me money. People have varied interests and tastes. Ignoring the things you don't care for is your best course of action.
Of course, rather than ignoring the deals, some folks like to post their opinions in no uncertain terms why they think the deal is really, really stupid. I don't mind that. I just wish they wouldn't be such d*cks when they do.
@mjc613: Actually, since I'm the resident cranky old fart, and have vast experience in this field (the cranky part), I'm going to point out that it would be more useful to vote FOR things for a time before worrying about voting against them. Out of curiosity, I clicked on the user tab, and note that you've voted for two deals. Two?
Read some of the other questions. Use the very nice search facilities provided by the excellent Mr @catbertthegreat, over there, hidden in questions on the Popular tab, and I'll bet you'll find any number of discussions on voting, and participation.
@lavikinga: Wait. Are you calling me a duck? You'd better be planning to come out shooting. Them's fightin' words. See you in Elko.
@shrdlu: Madam, I only wish I lived on the west coast. I believe it would be worth the drive to meet you in person.
@lavikinga: Second!
@sgoman5674 and @lavikinga: You should know that I am a recluse, and avoid such meetings. You may attempt to find me in the one place where I appear, at a conference, held every year in that cesspool of misery, Las Vegas.
Here, from the announcement, with far more exclamation points than I might use:
"Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas! DEF CON 18 will happen July 29th - August 1, 2010!"
That is all.
@shrdlu: Ah. Prefer to dwell in the bashment of the Schiensh Building, do you? Well, in that case I shall continue to admire your wit from afar.
@lavikinga: at least she won't be at comic con or star wars con
There have been some previous discussions on this:

Also, to quote @snapster: "down-voting allows for more gaming / mob control of the democratic vote system while offering little true utility."
@josefresno: true and honestly the currenty system we have allows us to vote by abstention. We aren't voting for it because we think it is stupid. We may even comment on something and have a lively discussion on the deal or question with out voting for it.
