According to that know-it-all wikipedia: "Methods of destroying suspected vampires varied, with staking the most commonly cited method, particularly in southern Slavic cultures. Ash was the preferred wood in Russia and the Baltic states, or hawthorn in Serbia, with a record of oak in Silesia. Potential vampires were most often staked through the heart, though the mouth was targeted in Russia and northern Germany and the stomach in north-eastern Serbia. Piercing the skin of the chest was a way of "deflating" the bloated vampire; this is similar to the act of burying sharp objects, such as sickles, in with the corpse, so that they may penetrate the skin if the body bloats sufficiently while transforming into a revenant." There's more for the reading at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vampire under the "Methods of destruction" heading. Hope this isn't an urgent matter!

Per Twilight shudder "the only way to kill a vampire is to rip it to shreds and burn the pieces."

@huttona: "Hope this isn't an urgent matter!" That was funny. I rarely laugh at comments but this one got me.

Seriously, why were the tags not changed on that deal?

@caffeine_dude: I haven't been bothered by any vampires since my set arrived.

Hey I'm just asking a question pertaining to the deal... As to the existence of Vampires, I work late at night and you have to really wonder about some of the characters wandering the streets late at night...

Same goes for Zombies, Saturday and Sunday you may find them wandering the streets between 11AM and 2PM looking for the local liquor store...

Well... as currently it would be considered murder, I can't really condone such activity, but yes. Any "vampires" that you would meet today in our world (not sparkle vampire paradise) would be killed if that was shoved into their heart. Realize that it will take a great deal of force and there will be a lot of blood. Also if you decide this is an activity you need to pursue, then you should consider putting a lawyer on retainer. ;)

@caffeine_dude: Well they finally changed my tags on this question but nothing happened to the posted deal tags...

Where is my #Notsexy tag???

I'm thinking you are going to need actually wooden stakes per all of my BTVS investigations.

@hobbitss: zombies, not to be confused with meth heads. they look similar

Just to be safe, silver-cored wooden stake through the heart followed by beheading and full dismemberment. Burn some, but not all of the pieces and bury the rest on separate continents wrapped in razor wire with the edges facing inward.

@hobbitss: Ahh fairness the tags were changed on that deal.

All this time I thought it was holly that one drives through the heart of a vampire. Now I realize I combined my vampire fairy tales with Dickens' Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.

"Every idiot who goes about with 'Merry Christmas' on his lips, should be boiled with his own pudding, and buried with a stake of holly through his heart. He should."

--"A Christmas Carol"

I'm surprised I didn't mix up vampires having OCD from The X Files "Bad Blood" episode in there with it all too.

I still say throwing bacon at zombies will by you time to run and get a shot gun.

@caffeine_dude: LOL...
No more #vampire-killing tag... Altho' they haven't given this question it's #notsexy tag back...

I'd hope they turn to dust when staked like on Buffy, as opposed to exploding blood and guts like on True Blood.

The vampire stake is antiquated, and was used because it was all the pesants had. From personal experience, I've found that vampires/zombies/trolls/lawyers et. al. respond quite well to .45acp. Although they might not have been actual vampires/zombies/trolls, but I'm pretty sure the lawyer was a real lawyer.
