I thought that this place that was a sponsored deal just a while back was outstanding.

@dreamaster: I buy most of the spices I want from Fiesta Foods, and I just don't need many (outside of cayenne pepper, which I use to keep cats from digging in my garden beds).

No, I haven't ordered from them, but the outside reviews were very good.

There were some familiar faces saying very nice things when it was the deal. I'm going to trust @anotherhiggins, and reviews on the interwebs also seemed very complimentary.

@shrdlu: they have awesome tweets I must say.

@hobbit: Well, that has to count for something. Lord knows, there's enough of the other kind. I keep waiting for Twitter to be over. It'll happen.

I used to have a litany of the social network stuff that I'd belonged to, and that has now fallen out of favor, but it got to be too long.

@shrdlu: being a news junky I love twitter just for the tweets from news sources it is like news on crack! Then add in all the other stuff I subscribe too, if I really read it all I would probably be insane, I only read about half of the tweets I get a day. But I like having it there to read, it makes me happy. Our State Governor's office tweets too. I don't see it as social networking, as I don't really tweet much. I just read.

I'm fond of Penzey's Spices:
www.penzeys.com

Penzey's website is a bit archaic but it has absolutely everything imaginable.

Oh and it is Alton Brown approved too.

@catbertthegreat: We need some recipes for all these fancy spices now. How about a nice curried chicken?

Oh, DAMN, that's an annoying web site. For those that really want to see, here's the good page.

Gah, fake introductory pages are so AOL.

@catbertthegreat: Ah. You did indeed say archaic. I like your chocolate deal, and now I'm going to be wanting it for days.

Penzey's is my local spice store. I have yet to be disappointed.

@dreamaster: as @shrdlu pointed out, I ordered from myspicesage.com/ and commented on that order over in http://deals.woot.com/deals/details/a033038d-238c-4960-ae3c-fb08d1616e05/8-madagascar-vanilla-beans?page=2&sort=oldest

I got 4 ounces each of Hungarian Paprika, Ground Cumin and Smoked Spanish Paprika along with 8 Madagascar Vanilla Beans and a free 1 ounce sample of Grains of Paradise for $20.45 shipped. Each item came in a resealable ziplock-type bag.

The spices seem to be fresh and of good quality.

Granted, I used a 30% off coupon code to get the price listed above, but I’m very impressed with the company and would certainly be willing to buy from them again.

Thanks to all those who listed other sites in this thread. I’ll look into those sites as well.

@catbertthegreat: I agree, Penzey's Spices are never a dissappointment!

I just noticed that myspicesage.com doesn't have tellicherry peppercorns. I just refilled my peppermill so I don't need any right now, but I wanted to check their prices.

I find this very surprising for a spice merchant. It gives me pause....
