I like to change the setting of the type of crap woot allows me to see. Somehow this posting made it past my filter.

My car only has 2 dials (dual climate control) for temperature control. I don't have a digital read-out for the internal temperature settings.

You should try putting tape over the display and then set the temp to where you are comfortable. Then peel the tape and reveal what it is set at.

I'm not too particular with the home thermostat, so I think you're just weird. Sorry, but it is what it is. ;)

Car thermostat?? Dang, I must be behind the times...

I have three dials: one dial that sets how hard the fan blows, another dial that sets how hot or cold the air comes out and a third that decides where the air shoots out (floor, dashboard and/or windshield). Every three minutes, at least one of those dials must be adjusted because it is impossible for the interior of my car to maintain a perfect temperature. But I've gotten so used to it that I wouldn't know what to do with my hands in a car with a digital thermostat.

I drive a 20-year-old truck, and I adjust the temperature:
1. Turn on the heater for heat.
2. Adjust the fan to slow, medium, or high
3. Open the window a bit for cool air to lower temp
4. Lather, rinse, repeat

I usually leave it on 72 and let the car figure out if I want heat or A/C.

@rprebel: Exactly, I don't have a selection for heat or air... it just knows what to do. I usually keep mine on 72 when it's really cold outside and turn on the heated seats.

@rprebel & @missellienc: Here, Here. I keep it at 72 year round. I am also addicted to my heated seats.

@missellienc and @pyxientx: The only thing missing is a remote starter. I guess that was too much to ask for 1990. Climate control, check. Heated side mirrors, check. Cruise control on the steering wheel, check. Remote starter? WITCHCRAFT!

@rprebel: I declined that feature. But I have seats that cool in the summer. In Texas, that is witchcraft, but with black leather interior it is a must.

Mine even has the ipod connect so you can control it from the steering wheel.

I only set my thermostat to prime numbers: 61, 67, 71, 73, 79, or 83.

@pyxientx: Ooh, what I'd give for seats that cool in the summer. I have black leather seats, dash, steering wheel, gearshift...and a glass roof. In Texas. I put the A/C on 60 degrees and all that comes out of the vents is laughter.

The iPod connect is a nice feature. I got a stereo with a USB port for that, but no steering wheel controls. Shame on Nissan for not seeing how I would want that feature 20 years later.

@rprebel: My a/c works well here now, but its a 2010. I traded in my Wrangler for the heated seats, the ipod connect, and room for my dogs (2 Danes). Miss the Wrangler in the spring and fall, but LOVE my new one at all other times.

You are right, Nissan should have been more forward thinking and added the Ipod connect and cooling seats.
