Good question.

I believe this has been commented somewhere else with regards to who can post deals. From my understanding, if you see a 0 vote next to a deal, it means that either they haven't bought from woot before or they have never made a comment. In some cases, the poster is spamming (like the furniture guy).

Bottom line: Be wary of the 0 votes.

@sgoman5674: yes:

If you have not bought from woot, your account is not able to vote on deals.woot items. this is a firm anti-spam measure so that you cannot create accounts willy-nilly to vote a bias/spam item up.

you can create the same appearance by down-voting your own entry, but I don't see the point in that. your own votes are auto-added to your comments and deal/question submissions to avoid the hassle of self-voting.

so right now it creates an interesting side effect / evidence of a user experience on main woot. when we have the deals.woot reputation triangle visible on the deal flow, that'll really far surpass this in terms of filtering utility.

@sgoman5674: Actually (as you know), I've asked this, and also commented on it, a few times. I'm replying here to make it easier for the users to find (just click on my name, which takes you to the things I've asked, and Voila! you'll have even more answers to this question). Sneaky, yes?
