I am overly excited about this.

vote-for3vote-against

@curli76: Not really. Just make sure you have your package shipped by the specified date, make sure that your crap is at least somewhat useable (it doesn't have to be useful to your recipient, but you can't just send all your broken gadgets) and that it's something that's actually legal to put in the mail. Food is cool so long as it's not expired and in the original store packaging. Nothing alive/once alive unless it's something like seeds.

Go ahead and sign up. You'll get an email with the official rules before you have to commit.

I'm kinda curious about the terms and conditions. Are they super-serious?

vote-for4vote-against

@baqui63: Does that make you a procrapinator?

I'll just show myself out.

vote-for4vote-against

Good news everyone, we broke 60!

vote-for3vote-against

Cheese and rice, 48 participants? Holy cow. and we seem to be growing. This should be good.

vote-for5vote-against

@flamingonut: Not really. Some crap is fine, but I think most of us expect there to be usable crap, or humorous stuff, or regiftable stuff (if you have neighbors you don't especially like), etc.

vote-for3vote-against

I'm in -- and collecting like crazy!

vote-for2vote-against

I have my Priority Mail box ready.....if it fits, it ships!

vote-for5vote-against

So, is it safe to assume that it's basically a junk swap? Thou with the worst item wins?

vote-for5vote-against

@pattiq: I live in Fresno......you don't want ANYTHING local.....trust me ;-)

vote-for5vote-against

I am in. I have been accumulating a pile of stuff to cram in a box.

Too lazy to go back an read but I think we included a delivery confirmation requirement. I think we emailed those to the host after mailing.

We also added something local to the boxes last time.

vote-for6vote-against

I've signed up and I'm even more excited this time around than I was last time. :D

vote-for7vote-against

@belyndag: Yes, there was a thing about no food unless it wouldn't spoil in transit.
A jar of peanut butter would probably make it, but would be unwelcome to someone with the Peanut Allergy. Use discretion, y'all.

vote-for5vote-against

@lumpthar: I think last time there was something about food products, wasn't there? I don't believe we completely banned them, but we probably said not to send anything that could spoil in transit. There might have been a few other rules, but I haven't found the original posts yet. Of course, we could always just start over this time around.

(It seems that I will NEVER get over being a bureaucrat!)

@jimmyd103: Basically, nothing alive (or was alive). Otherwise, cheap (functional, whimsical, nonsensical, obsolete, etc) junk. You're limited by how much you're willing to pay (TOUPEE!) to get the crap to its target. I spent about $20 last time.

You shouldn't send a spool of CDs that took a trip through the microwave.
You could send a router with 2 dead ports, so long as the other 2 ports work.

You shouldn't send road-kill, no matter how dried out it is.
You could send a silly stuffed animal.

You shouldn't send a banana peel.
You could go to Party City and send out party favors.

You shouldn't send an empty Coke can.
You could send a Laserdisc player.

Get the idea?

vote-for7vote-against

@jimmyd103: I am going to stuff a box with everything around my room I can find that has yet to be opened/used/taken advantage of.......misc. wires, knick-knacks, novelties, etc. I wish we did these more often....I need to get rid of this stuff!

vote-for5vote-against

I hope I get to send mine to somebody who likes video games/movies/books (I can TOTALLY make that persons day!)....I have quite a few brand new items of each that are begging for a new owner to open them and make good use....along with various crap of course!

vote-for5vote-against

Thanks for this! I'm tempted to dive in again :)

vote-for6vote-against

@jimmyd103: You can check out some of the items in the last BOC exchange here.

vote-for6vote-against

Why yes, I have. And I encourage everyone else to as well!

vote-for9vote-against

Since I've never scored a BOC, I'm not entirely confident that I know what to include in one of these. One mans crap is another man's treasure. But also one man's crap is also another man's crap. Can someone help me out?

vote-for13vote-against

I have given my wife strict instructions not to throw away any junk she finds until I can participate.

vote-for5vote-against

I did, first or second day I think

vote-for5vote-against

I did! Had a blast last time and I have a bog box of carp nearly ready to go for this round. Should be full by the time I sort through the, um, thoughtful Christmas gifts we'll receive.

vote-for10vote-against

Well, now you have at least 49 (I'd missed earlier calls for Christmas crapinators).
