Praying that the Lord grant the health professionals wisdom and guidance during this treatment, may God place His healing hands on your husband and give him comfort and strength and may the grace of God grant your family peace during these difficult times.

vote-for18vote-against

I will be praying for you and with you. God bless.

vote-for19vote-against

You are both in my thoughts and prayers.

vote-for33vote-against

As an atheist, I'm not the type to pray. Fervently hope, sure, that I can do. And I sincerely hope that your husband comes through everything OK.

There's a saying that has always stuck with me though: "God helps those who help themselves." I've always interpreted that to mean that asking/praying/hoping for help isn't enough and that you must still take action.

That's why every year on my mother's birthday I make a donation to the medical society that supports research into the disease with which she was afflicted. (I won't to go into details, this isn't the place for it.) And each year, I make an extra donation for each person I know or whom a friend knows who has a similar condition.

So what I'm saying to everyone who's replied here is, when you're done praying, please consider opening your checkbook and making a donation to a cause to help prevent people like her husband from needing prayer in the first place. Prayer has its place, but it should go hand-in-hand with action.

Well said @elforman. I'll leave you to your beliefs.

vote-for19vote-against

I'll definitely be thinking of you and him.

vote-for18vote-against

Done. Do not forget to take care of yourself, too. You will need your strength to help him through this time.

vote-for15vote-against

Thoughts and prayers on their way! Hope he has a successful surgery and speedy recovery!

vote-for15vote-against

I'll absolutely be praying for you, your husband, and of course, the surgeons as well...may God guide their hands and give them clear thoughts.
I'm not sure exactly what you're going through, or exactly what is wrong, but know that it must have been hard enough that you've decided to reach out to the community for help and support...this is something that we should absolutely be able to do for you...not sure what other forum/community you'd be able to get this type of support from...Woot truly is unique in that sense.
Take care of yourself @moosezilla

vote-for13vote-against

I'm a bit behind in seeing this, but you and your husband are, and will be, in my prayers as well. You may not know me, but if there's any other way that I can help, please don't hesitate to ask. God bless!

I wish him and you the best.

@klozitshoper: I agree. I have been coming back to this post all day.

Hope all is well

Makes daily hassles seem so trivial.
Sending positive energy to you both.

vote-for22vote-against

thank you to everyone. i just made it home from the hospital (he's still there, but he will be for a minimum of 3days-we knew ahead of time). they are doing a trial pain pump (implant under the skin to help his pain levels that aren't controlled by oral medicines). he was out of surgery almost nine hours ago. made it thru that fine, however he had to get off all pain meds before this could be done, and this isn't helping yet. the doc says it will take time to notice any difference. he still rates his pain level on a 10 out of 10, so i'm hoping that in the morning the doctor will raise his dosing. i had to leave the hospital because he was worrying about me instead of resting. so continued hopes/prayers etc are appreciated.

vote-for7vote-against

@moosezilla: Great news that he is out and recovering. I hope the pain goes away as soon as possible.

And yes, at this point being there you may do more damage then good. Im sure he is as worried about you as you are about him.

Good luck!

vote-for8vote-against

@moosezilla: I'm so glad you posted an update. I've been checking periodically to see how you both are doing. It sounds as though things are going ok so far. Recovery can be grueling so I'll continue to keep you both in my prayers.

vote-for6vote-against

@moosezilla, I've voted for a few comments above but that is anonymous and I wanted to let you know that you and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers (I don't pray much any more, though I was raised to do it all the time).

vote-for7vote-against

@moosezilla: Glad he's doing fine. Been thinking about it throughout the day, and hearing it's chronic pain brings it home a bit more. I hope that the pump helps.

vote-for5vote-against

Done. (Didn't see this til just now, so I'm a bit late, but will continue until he's out of the woods.)
