What do you think about Bob's shoes?
I saw a commercial last night for Bob's shoes by Skechers. For every pair of shoes they sell, they give another pair to kids in need, according to their website (I've read that they actually just donate money to a company that gives shoes to kids). It's obviously a copy of Tom's shoes, which DOES donate a pair of shoes for every pair bought. Apparently, they've been around for a while, but this is first that I've heard of them. I guess kids do benefit when someone buys them, but I'm not a fan of them duplicating the entire concept. Just get the original Tom's.
Kind of odd that they are so obviously copying Tom's.
How hard would it have been for Sketchers to come up with something similar without blatantly copying the idea?
I guess it's not too far off from anything else in life. Wal-mart is the reason we have Target, etc. The difference is that most of these competitors try to offer a different spin on the same concept rather than just duplicating it.
Since Bob's donates money instead of shoes, could they just donate to Tom's?
Bob my neighbor? His shoes are ok but I wear a 9.5.
ok, i want to be upfront about this-i have heard of the concept but have never researched anything on any of the companies.
is it possible that one of the companies is donating the shoe because it's their tax writeoff at full market value, while the other company is donating the money so more shoes(of a lower value/quality) can be given to more kids?
@moosezilla: I wouldn't doubt it. The more I read about either of the companies, the more I see that they may benefit more in terms of the marketing than they actually give away.
Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. I bought a pair of Bob's and I'm sending
my Tom's to the thrift store. Bob's are so much more comfortable!
I love Bob's I own 3 pair and if you have never tryed on a pair you are surly missing out!!! Best shoes ever, even better than my flip flops.
