Yep, got the email. And so it goes...

I also got that email. It doesn't surprise me that HP only made enough to fill the orders that were taken way back on August 22-23. It only took two months, but I finally got my TouchPads that I ordered back on August 23rd last week. It never made sense to me that HP would make more than needed to fill those orders. It cost them over $300 to make one. Why make a bunch more to only sell them at $99 or $149? I know HP is dumb, but surely they wouldn't be that dumb...right?

Yes. I’m kind of disappointed, I had like three orders canceled. I’m not going to throw a fit about something that was discontinued that I would not buy at the full price but I sure would have liked to have one. The eBay scalpers are still a little rich for my blood but I might have to search one out on the black market.

@widmer69: story goes they had a contract with the manufacturer. It would have cost them more not to make them and would probably ensue law suits.

From what I have read, Best Buy is the only "retailer", and they will only have the 32gb one IF you buy HP laptop.

@widmer69: Same here... Received my Touchpad a week ago and have been using it when time allows...

So did anyone receive an email between the "We definitely have news...plan to make another run end of fourth quarter..." and "Sorry, no more"? I was waiting for one but it never arrived. (Sad face)

I also just finally received my Touchpad from HP a couple days ago. It was annoying to have to wait over 2 months to get something that was basically an impulse buy, but now that HP will not have any more available, I'm glad that I managed to get mine. I had 3 other orders from different retailers cancelled when the firesale went live. I still don't think I would have paid too much more than I did for it. The $200-250 range is about the most I would have paid before I just ponied up the extra dough for an iPad, but at $99/$149 this ended up being quite a deal.

I posted a deal from Daily Steals the other day for a 32GB Touchpad for $239 and basically got hammered with downvotes. I think that's probably the lowest price you're going to see for a new Touchpad, but the people have spoken. Though, it would be interesting to see what would have happened if HP had sent out this email before I posted that deal. Maybe voters would have been more receptive.

I'm disappointed those TP hoarders didn't get f-ed on buying 30 of 'em...I was hoping the market would get flooded (but secretly knew it wouldn't.)

Although, a lot of the people trying to sell 'em for $299 probably still have quite a few touchpads sitting in their pantry's.
