What is your favorite War movie or series?
I would say Band of Brothers (HBO) and The War (PBS) are my fav's. If you are a true American "The War" will make you wipe your eyeballs. Movies, Full Metal Jacket (first half), Saving Private Ryan, We Were Soldiers, Black Hawk Down and most stuff that is true. I'm a big WW2 buff, it was a time in our history America knew they needed to pull together or we'd loose our Country.
Apocalypse Now, the Redux version. Favorite series...Hogan's Heroes.
The Revolution... by The History Channel.
Apocalypse Now vote here as well.

@kamikazeken: Hope and Glory is a "must see" movie
Does Star Wars count? It has "War" right in the title.
The Great Escape.
Movie: Full Metal Jacket
Series: M.A.S.H.
Album: Victory at Sea (the LP version)
@kamikazeken: The longest day, thank you.
I watched Bridge on the River Kwai again last night. I never get tired of it.
Mash. It was about the people, not the battles.
Something about having been in the military for real makes the other stuff look too fake.
Closest to that real feeling was Saving Private Ryan.
For series Band of Brothers, or maybe The Pacific. I served out in WestPac, and had the opportunity to spend time in the jungles of the small islands where that war was fought. The series (rather uncomfortably) shows what it is like to be there (you just miss the smell, and trust me, you don't want that either).
Movies: Most already named. I'd add Hamburger Hill: expresses the futility of that war (men fighting well and hard in a cause nobody cared about at home, ultimately to leave with nothing to show for it)
Yoo guys are making me buy movies form Amazon lol
Midway, one of the best. So many good ones, it's hard to choose. Kelly's Heroes comes to mind as well.
