Just the deals. I can't stand you people.

OK, not really.

The idea of a new deal-aggregator drew me in initially, along with the opportunity to help beta test /anything/ by woot - one of the coolest sites around.

But, like @debbiedunlap, I have come to enjoy the community as well.

Actually, I'd say that at this point it's honestly more about the people than the deals for me. I tend to be interested in the more tech-related deals. I find that more of the deserving tech deals get voted up to front page recognition on other deal sites, whereas deals.woot tends to feature more goofy and funny items that I won't be buying.

But don't get me wrong - I still cruise the fresh and popular tabs looking for good deals.

For me it's both. I love a good deal. It's my version of hunting. And I'm nosy, so I like hearing about people's lives.

The community. I am hardly ever over on the deals side. The only time I am over there is to see the results of the challenges.

vote-for12vote-against

Initially the deals. But then the questions started coming - How do I find my order?, Where is my order? Why hasn't my order arrived etc. Folks know I moderate on other forums so this is second nature to help with these questions.

I still check the deals. But usually just to vote stuff up that needs voting, to report duplicates - counterfeiting - scams, and to report expired deals.

@hobbit: You're one of the reasons I began coming over to the ATW side, and why I continue to do so. I truly appreciate the help you and several others have so generously given.

I came initially because it was woot and it was deals. After a couple weeks or so of perusing the popular and fresh tabs I wandered over into AtW. I have kept coming back mainly for the community with the deals as an added bonus. I keep an eye on both the deals and the questions throughout the day, with ones I want to follow open in different tabs.

@debbiedunlap: I am such a bad influence on you all.

@hobbit: You are such a GOOD influence!!

My answer is almost the same as @hobbit's. I originally came here for the deals, but then I noticed all those unanswered deal requests over on ATW and I felt a need to help out those people and post some deals for them. Also all those jewelry posts I started to leave mini reviews in. I felt there were people trying to rip people off with low quality jewelry. Someone had to explain to them that they were getting what they paid for.

I probably would have left a long time ago, but the community here has gotten me to want to stay. You guys(and gals) are great.

I'd have to say a combination of the two. I'm a shopaholic... compulsively. That book, Confessions of a Shopaholic? That's totally me.

But shopping is, and always has been to me, a social exercise. It's no FUN to shop alone. It's no fun to find deals and have no one to share them with. At that point, I may as well just write a script and have it shop online for me.

I come here because there's a communal feel to things. People post deals they're interested in and that have some sort of meaning (granted, some posters own sites selling the deals, so their interest may be vested). Be they silly, controversial, startling, imaginative... the deals here give me more a feeling of shopping with friends than just cruising a list of items and sale prices.

obssessive/compulsive here. can't stand paying full price for anything, so, I came here for the deals. BUT, you people are addicting. So now I am here for both.

@eneref: No one can be as bad as Rebecca Bloomwood, I mean she lied to creditors.

I came original for the beta testing, and because I always like to know how things work. Far more than any interest in finding some have-to-have item, or saving money, I wanted to see how one of the (at least at the time) largest applications in the Amazon Cloud worked. I wanted to see what the little man behind the curtains was doing, and I wanted to poke and prod at all the squeaky bits.

I stayed because of the community. There's nothing else that would have kept me interested for this length of time. I have a notoriously short attention span. I stayed because of @hobbit, and @catbertthegreat, and @anotherhiggens, and ... Well, the list is endless, or nearly so. I even stayed because of @prettywootprincess, and @thefenst, and @wootiewooterson, and @jumbowoot.

I've wrung every last discount out of vendors (when I worked, and it was other people's money). I'm good at it. It just isn't what's important, to me.

There's no price you can put on a good neighborhood.

Originally for the deals, because I love to bargain shop. Then for the community, who has been friendly and fun! The Deals staff are wonderful and very helpful. I love this place!

@shrdlu: "There's no price you can put on a good neighborhood."

And you're a great neighbor, @srdlu. You're another reason I think ATW is such a fun and fabulous spot to hang out.

@catbertthegreat: You know what, I never consider purchasing jewelry online because I'm so apprehensive about getting a bum deal. I appreciate your help. All of your help, all of the time. (Loving the netbook bag you found for me.) You're another wonderful cog in the ATW wheel.

i originally came because of the deals...always like finding stuff i like, for less than i intend to pay. but then i had a question. and unlike some other sites where questions asked by new people are ignored, shot down, treated like scum on the bottom of shoes, i was answered quickly, politely, and even nicely while being a new person. it's that treatment that has kept me coming back, and trying to give that same treatment back to those i might have an answer for, or be able to help

vote-for7vote-against

@debbiedunlap: I love challenges. Glad you liked the bag. One day, when they invent the USB powered mind reader, we won't need challenges.

@catbertthegreat: Watch for in the next Woot-Off. About 3:37 am. They'll only have 3.

Here I am tardy to the party again :)
I originally came here for the deals they got boring really fast. Then I met the community, and that's what got me coming back. Without all of you who I see over here frequently, I wouldn't be here. Sure I like to answer peoples questions and do challenges and finding deals. But I like someone pointing out when I'm wrong at times. Yeah I still look at the deals sometimes but to be honest, I've never bought anything, not even my own deals. But when the "Enthusiastic New Members" come in I probably won't go over there at all. So all in all the community is why I'm here.

@duckcake: I wish I could say I've never bought anything!! I'm a sucker for the "girl" stuff.
