Do you feel like you've really gotten to know anyone on deals.woot.com?
I've been on other forums where you start to feel like you know people based on topics, but I don't really feel that way on Deals.woot for some reason. I mean I take comfort in knowing @narfcake has an even bigger TShirt addiction than me. And I know @cowboydann has the biggest box of screaming monkeys you've probably ever seen. (which I bet if you threw against the wall would make a sound that could shatter glass) Beyond that I don't really know very much about anyone here. I wonder why that is.

I fell in love with Wootbot....
Because not much personal info is revealed.
Many of us have formed online penpal relationships. It's been pretty cool. It's like being facebook friends without all the cheesy games and photos.
my wife wants to know who this Jumbowoot! person is and why she keeps sending me stuff in the mail....
I've become friendly with some of the people here on Deals, and agree with @lavikinga that it's better than Facebook. Of course, I think that a kick in the knee is better than Facebook, so that comparison's not too trustworthy in my case.
I have a couple of friends (IRL) who know about the site, and once in a great while, will read the forums here, and comment to me that they read something I said (although it's very sporadic, and they've never commented here on Deals).
It's something I'm used to doing in other arenas than just Deals/Woot, however. I have friends that I've exchanged email with for more than twenty years, and yet have never met. In some cases, real life friendships have come from email exchanges.
Can we ever really get to know someone on a forum like this, without taking it to alternatives, such as private messages or email? I think I know about several people here that have volunteered too many details, but I keep it to myself. Google is NOT your friend.
@dcpotts: I'm sure @GirlWootBot will be interested to know about this relationship....
I feel that I have also learned much about some of the wooters through friendly banter and comedic posts. I think it would be nice to have an instant private message function so you can learn more about a person by chatting as you build up trust between each other.
I would like to be better friends with jumbowoot. ;)
I've gotten to learn a little bit about people here and there. I've had a few people I don't mind busting chops with including you @gideonfrost. I found out a little bit about Zelda from @DrChops and I think @Dmaz lives in china... I could be totally wrong there. @Pickypickypicky has good taste in music and got me started on a few new bands I'm really diggin. so does @rsmoker at least they should <_<. I know @Narfcake has a boatload of shirts (227 last i saw but he's probably got 230 now) @thumperchick is another person I don't really know a lot about but I get excited when I see them posting in regular woots. Oh also @therealrjn always manages to catch me off guard and make me laugh :P but I digress. There aren't many people I know too much about, but there are still plenty of regulars I like. also @gideonfrost check your pm's sumtime man
No people that I would say I know. But, there are many here who's informative opinions are something I seek out and respect more than some of my IRL friends. Also, the laid back, subtle humor makes me smirk a LOT.
And, @cowboydann: I get excited to run into deals.wooters in the woot forums as well!
@dcpotts don't believe her lies, come by the office next week and we'll introduce you to him
I thought I named @baqui63 but I guess I didn't. They're really cool and always like to see what they got to say and learned about a really cool war story about his dad. I think I'll start a deals.woot IRC on rizon later now that I think about it. If nobody beats me to it I'll probably do it monday or tuesday.
@cowboydann: Thanks, right back at ya!
