Do all DS's have Wifi Standard or do you have to buy anything else?

The title says it all. If I buy a DS Lite will I be able to to play with my Buddy in VA if I live in NC and have internet access?

You have to check with your model to make sure you can access your wifi network. The older DS lites don't accept WPA and WPA2 security, for example. DSI apparently fixes this issue, if I remember correctly, but if you wanted to hit a hotspot most of the time it still won't work since most wifi hotspots require you to accept the agreement before accessing the network... which you can't accept using a DS. (not sure about a DSI on this issue though but I assume it's the same.)

The DSi and DSiXL have the option to turn wifi off and on. The DS lite has it on pretty much all the time. As for playing with a friend, that depends on the game really. What game? If it's something like Pokemon, no problem. If it's Magical Pony Adventure or something like that, theres probably no wifi options

On a related note, I recently purchased a DSiXL and have been using it for a few months now. Two days ago, someone showed me something on their DSi and I held it up wondering "What the heck? Since when do they make mini ones?" I've grown so accustomed to this huge monstrosity...
