i hate social networking. refuse to do it for ANY reason.

vote-for16vote-against

I missed the BOC's because I wasn't looking for them. I must be one of the few members here not interested in accumulating a bunch of stuff that I do not need... or, should I say a bunch of MORE stuff I do not need...

vote-for10vote-against

@tarasadies: I doff my cap to you for your restraint. I enjoy accumulating crap...er, I mean useful stuff that I'll find a place for :)

vote-for14vote-against

Nah man. I tried... with my phone because the laptop was being upgraded (just got it home it's purrrrty). Tried to slowly type the Youtube thing into my phone browser with my pointer finger. Got there, it looked like I still had a chance... SOLD OUT .

I am on day three (almost 4) of smoking cessation... I promised myself I wouldn't try and save myself the aggravation but then I did (at the advice of my IT guy who was on Twitter when I picked up my new laptop...!).

Ah well. I shall rejoice the $19.92 I have saved off of not smoking (or so says the app) along WITH the $8 I did not waste on crap. That's like a bonus of $27.72 in three days! Woo hooooo~

Deep breaths.

vote-for14vote-against

I missed them all just like any other BOC

vote-for11vote-against

No, I missed them because I was working/don't do social sites. YMMV. Congrats to those few who persevered. :)

vote-for4vote-against

I missed them because I was entertaining a couple of dozen relatives visiting from out of state. Now I'm crashing to rest up for more merriment tomorrow. Whoever gets my BOC, enjoy! (And if you get one and don't know whether it's mine, enjoy anyway.)

vote-for3vote-against

No, I was distracted by all the other tweets from people I follow for some reason. I'm only going to follow woot from now on.

vote-for12vote-against

Scumbag deals.wooters: say they don't like social networking, end up posting a lot of questions/comments in ATC.

vote-for1vote-against

Missed it due to a bday party running late. When I was told about it, I should have just popped on and bought it, but I already had the kids in the car to head over. Not fair (or nice) to have them wait so I could buy some crap. ;)

vote-for7vote-against

I missed it because social networks are blocked on our workstations. Le Sigh. Happy Birthday, woot!

vote-for1vote-against

I did neither of looking at woot, nor wooting. I got no BOCs. I was busy working in a place that doesn't allow cell phones earning the cash to pay for the woot birthday stuff I ordered already. I didn't even get to be excited about today's BOCs because I didn't know about them until they were way way done and overwith. Maybe next time.

vote-for0vote-against

If Woot is going to make BOCs available only to those (I'll refrain from using the adjective I'm thinking) enough to use those specific sites, then I won't be getting one ever again. Not gonna sign up for FB, MS, Twitter, etc. for too many excellent reasons to go into here. Mark my words, lemmings....you're going to regret being on those sites.

It's a trap. They'll own you. Don't give them the power over you that they're after (and getting.)

vote-for7vote-against

@reginafilangee: They were public posts that don't require you to make an account...

vote-for0vote-against

@xavoc: Still required you to go TO a facebook page, though.....right? Or was there a separate link to another site that didn't require going to Woot's FB page?
Boycotting is boycotting.....just like boycotting any store. Don't want to set foot in it, for any reason....unless it's a bathroom emergency. To merely visit any FB page (even without making an account) is STILL supporting the facebook site (by rewarding them with traffic, among other things.) I just won't get any more BOCs if that's how they're going to be done. I'll miss the whole "BOC experience" which is the fun of it, but no biggie. I'll let the rest of you have all the fun, if opening any FB page is required in order to have it.

vote-for4vote-against

@reginafilangee: Well, let's see. There was also a BoC on their Flickr Account, and Youtube, and...

Woot's discussion forums work in the same manner as Facebook. They can, and will revise their terms of service any time they want. In fact, they already have all of your contact information, phone number, name... Pretty much anything Woot (Or Amazon) would need to do nasty things to you.

I have no idea why you're so butthurt about it in any way about this. If you don't like it, get off the internet... Only, even that won't help.

vote-for-3vote-against

@xavoc: Nope, it's not the Internet in general. It's specific "social media" (not retail) sites, and what they do with your personal information. Some are ethical and trustworthy; others (specifically the ones used for this) are not. Not sure why that's so hard to comprehend. The only one you mentioned that is worthy of ANY traffic/support is youTube....and that's for now only. Just wait a few years....you'll see what they're up to and what their motives are. But if you're smart, you won't feed into it at all even before everyone is smacking their foreheads for falling into it.

vote-for11vote-against

But Woot is my social networking site! I saw no BoC here!

vote-for1vote-against

I missed them at first because I simply did not know to go there. The phrase, "woot empire", from the newletter was just a bit to vague for me.

I was able to grab one off Facebook around 10:15EST thinking that it might happen. I got lucky.

vote-for3vote-against

@lparsons42: I agree with you. This IS my social networking site. And I also agree with @reginafilangee. I will not go to Facebook, Twitter, and all of the other whatevers.

And yes, I know it was a link. So?

I have been pretty lucky the last few months and have managed to snag a few BOC's, so I'm happy. It just seems a little strange that the BOC's were not offered on the Woot! sites. But then again, lots of things have been a little strange around here lately.

vote-for7vote-against

I have become comfortable with the fact that I will never score a BOC unless I become really lucky and just happen to log-in when one is posted. I just can't justify hovering over my computer when my 2 1/2 YO daughter is offering the best home-made tea in town. Real life is right in front of your face not images on this box. For me, she matters not a random bag of stuff. Just my opinion and no I'm not hating.

vote-for2vote-against

missed due to social networking blocked here at work, oh well, maybe mext time. Congrats to those who scored and feel free to mail me any items you don't want :)

vote-for3vote-against

@agingdragqueen: Is it social if you sit in your basement scavenging for deals? :)

By the way, I think it was brilliant to do it like a scavenger hunt. As with most of you, though, I can't justify spending the time digging whilst at work. I thought I was being smart having a woot tracker window open on my second screen...

vote-for3vote-against

I missed them because work blocks social networking and phones are usually too slow for it. The fact that people could get more than one of the bags didn't help. Saw people bragging about getting more than one. Had to resist temptation to go internet stalker on them and hunt them down.

vote-for2vote-against

Hopefully woot tracks all the multiples and makes sure that they 'randomly' get identical garbage (literally). I admit to getting more than one in past events like when you had to play crapshoot or the scavenger hunt. The difference was you had to actually do something and logging out and into another account to then attempt was a struggle. Crapshoot especially, by the time I realized you could get crap I had to play to level 9 or something to succeed. People getting lucky clicking a link quickly and purchasing 8 out of 10 available bags makes me sick because of all the people attempting and failing for years.

Every time I've gotten more than one, or anyone else in my house succeeded the extras were all identical. Nothing better than 3 identical boxes, supposedly random yet containing identical product even down to color and size if the product was available in variations.

vote-for0vote-against

@pilotwillie: How is playing Crapshoot any different than having to watch something like 15 web pages while constantly refreshing over a 24 hour period?

vote-for0vote-against

@reginafilangee: And what trap is this? Please educate us!

vote-for2vote-against

@jimmyd103: I tried 6 times before I picked up my first BOC. And only because my order ended in the right digit in regards to the stock market closing on Woot's fifth birthday. They sent me a pallet of 1152 action figures.

I picked up my second one about 3 months after that. That was in 2009. I got one yesterday too. After 3 more years of trying.
