Would you rather be a comfortable slave to a giant robot or a free desert-wandering wino?

If you had your choice between these two lives which would you pick?

1) Enslaved to a giant robot, forced to spend your entire life performing its every whim without question for fear of getting stomped on, but afforded every material comfort you could imagine

or

2) Free, but hopelessly lost in the desert with no chance of ever having more than the clothes on your back and two bottles of wine a day.

I like to think I'd take the second choice, but if it was really that simple to choose one extreme or the other I'm not so sure I would.

Because I tried to follow the white rabbit and swallowed some pills, next thing I know I was fed some ipecac and tripped my face off.

I would pick the wino but only if I could have at least three bottles of wine per day. I'm not sure two bottles per day would be enough to make a person qualify as a wino...

@lavikinga: I'm not sure where you'll find a hot shower or a jeep in the desert. Of course I'm not sure where you're finding the wine, but we'll let that slide. If you happen upon any books you're welcome to keep them.

@benyust2: Three bottles could be arranged.

@barnabee: I thought of the robot as some nameless monstrosity, but if you want to call it Robby that's fine.

Geez, why so negative?

You have to vote up more before you can vote down.

Don't get us wrong. Negativity has its place. And downvotes are just as essential as upvotes when it comes to making Deals.Woot a useful place to find deals.

But when your votes lean so heavily toward the dark side, we have to wonder. Go vote up a few things. Accentuate the positive for a little while. It'll do you some good, and it'll do the site some good, too. Then you can get back to dealing out the smackdowns, OK?
