i bought the hoodie as well with a coupon. 9.99 isn't that big of a gamble. I'm actually kinda excited about it.

vote-for5vote-against

Got the random tshirt. I'm a cheapskate, $1.66 after july jumbowoot coupon

THANKS AGAIN, JUMBO! U da bomb! (but I wouldn't say that if I were in an airport)

by the way, anyone know what the quality of the duffel bags or messenger bags is like?

vote-for15vote-against

I'm probably overreacting but I felt my heart drop when I saw how much crap they were selling. Not with excitement mind you. This is just too much of a crapshoot for me to want to buy a lot of these things. If I had some Idea of what I was going to get I'd be more likely to buy stuff. Do these random items span over Every design ever printed? Some of these things I don't even remember having alternative prints. Didn't they only have Pi backpacks?

Random sales used to be a way to clear excess stock, but this looks like they'll be making randoms to send out...either that or a lot of this stuff is going to sell out super fast. Also with all the quality control issues in the past this just seems like more stuff for them to mess up. Can we please work on getting prints correctly before we stretch your resources even further?

If I get anything it will be paper prints, I'll sleep on it.

Did anyone else feel the same way? @narfcake @wisenekt @Neuropsychosocial just to name a few ppl

So many choices. Trying to remember what some of the long sleeve shirts were. Tempted by the hoodies. Maybe there's an Apathy Coalition left, just waiting to be sent my way.

@kamikazeken: picked up a woot athletics duffle bag, seems pretty standard but haven't put much wear and tear on it.

scratch that on manufacturing randoms for the sake of manufacturing randoms.

I just noticed this for the "random" backpack:
We will send you a random backpack printed with any design we've ever printed on a backpack before. (Hint: there's only one.)

vote-for5vote-against

Tempted on the hoodie as well..

If only it was like the opposite of random, like a "hey, you guys can pick the design you want that we have in stock here" deal.

I wouldn't mind shuffling through all the options.

vote-for4vote-against

for anyone grumbling, if you've got a $5 coupon, at least get yourself a shirt for $1.66!

vote-for4vote-against

I didn't get a hoodie, but I figure for 3.99 I can find out the quality of woot aprons for myself :D

@cowboydann: This one then, I assume?

http://shirt.woot.com/offers/reflections-on-pi-backpack

Also, everyone else, which is more comefortable in your opinion, the lightweight hoodie or the regular? I need to know if I should scrap up some more money for the lightweight or go for the thick one.

@cowboydann: I agree, the randoms don't have the same feel as they did when they ran on the shirt.woot site. I saw them up last night and was really confused, excited and then overwhelmed. Also, given all the errors that have been experienced with the side sales, I am a little cautious.

Of course I am also trying to figure out the difference between the two zip up sweatshirts. Sometimes having too many options will overwhelm and cause people to tune out entirely. It would be interesting to see what kind of sales stats this Random gets.

I'm usually the type to try to embrace and go with the changes they make, but this is just plain awful.

I doubt I'll be getting involved in random shirt day (which is now random crap week) anymore.

@teenracer6: @wisenekt: We have all three options of the hoodie at our house and here is what we saw:

Pullover - really heavy weight (ours were Gildan), standard fit - we like
Zipup - heavy weight (ours were Gildan), fits and feels like a Hanes - we like
Lightweight - almost paper thin (feels synthetic - Alternative Earth) with white zippers, sleeves are skin tight - we REALLY DISLIKE

I would have gone for a duffel if it wasn't gone already. Not sure I would risk it on a hoodie, I've been far too lucky with random shirts lately (well, while they were doing AA randoms).

vote-for4vote-against

I for one am super excited!

vote-for5vote-against

I dunno, but I'm nervous about a random tote. Maybe I'll get the shakespeare again, maybe I'll get Bacon cat. Who knows.

btw, does bacon cat exist in woot form, or did I just dream that?

@panthiest: Re: Aprons - They are OK. Kind of stiff and scratchy, I washed mine with some softener and it is still a little stiff, but not too bad. Nothing nothing really great, nothing horribad.

@theoneill555: Thanks for the rundown, I was actually wondering about how the different hoodie options compare. I went with the pullover in XL, I'm actually a L in all other things, but pullover hoodies are really meant to be oversized.

vote-for3vote-against

Missed the messenger bag. :( Hoodie's a pretty tempting deal, though.

@jleh123: I think you will like it.

My son is normally an XL and ordered a 2X -

and he wears it ALL THE TIME and it is finally, summer in Western WA. I just wish I could get him another one or two as spares.

@joshobra: Having an option won't be random then, would it?

@cowboydann: I'll see about piecing together a post on what are potential offerings for all the side sale randoms. I stopped doing the list after the Wreckoning Part I (aka the site redesign), but it's pretty inclusive since the back-to-school items last year. I think there were only like three duffel bags (2 Woot + Some Motivation Required).

vote-for1vote-against

Not really. I just got a new one for my birthday.

vote-for1vote-against

@narfcake: Could we possibly get a list of uni-sex tank tops? (Personally I call them husband beaters instead of wife beaters.)

vote-for2vote-against

@narfcake: Yeah, you stopped doing the list... the list didn't stop entirely. :p

@cowboydann: Sorry, I've too busy counting my pennies and salivating over the Randoms sale to make it over to DW. :p (Just kidding - sorry for the delay.) I always forget about the printing problems/quality control issues at SW, as strange as that sounds. I see stuff, get excited, order it, @narfcake reminds me that it probably won't be right, I'm crushed, I'm optimistic, then I'm crushed again.

I suspect that many items in this sale will be printed on demand; I don't know whether that means items will be problematic (as with many recent items) or well-done (if the problems have been addressed). I've had no problems with my heavyweight hoodies (which haven't printed since the problems began, to be fair), no printing problems with my posters, and no printing problems with aprons. I'm optimistic and looking forward to my Randoms; I'm especially looking forward to the trading threads: should be epic!
