Wheres the best place to go for a honeymoon?
Tuscany. It is as magical as it is in the movies. Highly recommended.
After dating for years you'd think we knew what the other liked. My perfect honeymoon would have been at Bluebeard's Virgin Island getaway. I got vetoed and spent a so so time at Disney. Surprises sometimes work, but if I did it again, I would go ahead and talk it over with the other person and have a good idea of what they like.
We had a really good time at a bed and breakfast in Charlestown SC. It was inexpensive and a lot of fun. Southern hospitality, cool colonial style sights, romantic horse and carriage rides, great seafood and Fort Sumter... we're nerds.
Just make sure you stay in a place with nice beds and high thread count sheets... not trying to be gross but come on, it's a honeymoon. We all know what the deal is.
@witteeric Important detail, where are you located/where is the wedding going to be? Do you have $ to spend on airfare and such. Congrats!
My wife and I went to Secrets Silver Sands resort in Cancun. It's all inclusive, child free and 4.5/5 stars. It was better than we could have imagined. We went on an excursion to Mayan ruins and swimming in an underground cave. Lots of fun and a great time of one on one with the best best friend I've ever had.
Cruise to Alaska, that is where I took my bride in 2002.
@all < doubt that works but worth a shot lol
Right now i'm looking for inexpensive, but 10 days or so, all inclusive, and lazy. Though we both really enjoy exploring and outdoorsy stuff, we decided that when it comes to a honeymoon we just want to relax, don't want to worry about an itinerary just be lazy and enjoy each others company. It just always seems we're rushing around and way to busy for our own good.
Congrats!
I will have to echo a comment above, and ask the question. What kind of personalities do you guys have? Are you looking for a romantic getaway? Do you want to lounge around on a beach, go sight seeing etc? Another important factor I guess would be budget, although I wouldn't spare any expense if you don't travel much.
My wife and I also took a vacation about 3 years ago to Maui, and I loved it. The people there were so kind, and we were never bored. Tons of stuff to do, beautiful places to see, moonlight boat whale watching, hula dancers, great food.
If I wasn't married, I would have stayed there.
*PS - Snorkeling there was the best I have experienced
and what @coondogg97: said - congratulations! And many happy years together!
this totally depends on your personality. Do you want to get somewhere and lounge around? How about Punta Cana or Hawaii? Or do you want to spend time exploring some new places together? I could recommend Switzerland for that - get a rail pass and you can see a lot of the country. Or Rome and Paris (assuming this is not soon, as they are having a lot of snow right now). We did Rome and Paris and had a wonderful time - you can take a train trip in between that will take you through Switzerland if you'd like to see the Alps. If you want to lounge around the beach AND explore some new places, the Big Island of Hawaii is great for that - volcanic beaches and active volcanos - even a seahorse farm and an observatory.
@smorpheus: Congrats!
You are going to get a ton of different answers. My wife and I went on an 11 day cruise to the southern Caribbean. It was by far the best vacation of our lives, but I think it being our Honeymoon had a lot to do with that.
The nice thing about cruising is you get to experience a lot of different places. Depending on where you live you may also be able to drive to a port to get on the cruise. If that is the case the money you save an airfare you can put into a nicer room on the ship or save it for excursions.
Since cruising my wife and I had the opportunity to discover Disney World. If we knew then what we know now we would have gone to Disney for our Honeymoon. Just something magical about the place!
My wife and I got married and spent our honeymoon in Maui. It exceeded all our expectations. For eight days and nights we had a blast. I should point out we are outdoorsy folks, and we enjoyed exploring the wilderness and the beaches. Seriously, even with eight days we didn't do near what we wanted to. We kept taking the road to Hana and never made it to the end because we would pull over and find a trail and go hiking and just exploring. It was fantastic. The bamboo forests, the waterfalls, snorkeling ... it was just beautiful. Now you have me wanting to head back...
Bed-duh
My wife and I went on a cruise through the Western Caribbean. I would really recommend it.
It's funny you should ask. I'm going on a honeymoon next week to Tokyo. I think if your looking for a lot of stuff to do without having to rent a car, love Japanese food, and have a little bit of extra money, it's the perfect choice.
