Yes, it will work just fine if the QX6800 is supported. Your QX6700 is the 'extreme' version and the same as the QX6800 except for a lower clock speed.

However, why do you want to replace your mobo without upgrading your CPU? The socket is totally dead (sinking money into it now wouldn't allow for any potential upgrades) and 5 years old.

@brad3326:

Thanks for the reply on the compatibility.

Regarding keeping the same socket mobo, I really don't want to spend more than I have to, and the Quad-Core Unlocked CPU has no issues running anything I throw at it, including the most graphic intensive games. I would have to spend a lot to get something better (as this CPU totally rocks), I just want more features out of my motherboard at the moment.

@dmmutti: I guess what I meant is, what features do you need out of a new mobo? You might just be able to add an expansion card to get them for cheaper which will also be able to transferred to the next computer

@brad3326:

The mobo I have has a PCIe slot that runs at 4X, and DDR2 (2GB Max).

I just purchased a new Video Card, and would like it in a PCIe 16X slot.
I also want the ability to add more memory than 2GB, preferably DDR3 as it is faster and actually cheaper than DDR2.

@dmmutti: Ah yeah for that it may make sense to buy a new board. Especially with LGA775 being able to do DDR3. A quick look on newegg shows LGA775 are surprisingly cheap, excellent.

@brad3326: My thoughts exactly. Thanks again :)

Y'all are WAY out of my league on this one...
