I got really excited for Hellgate: London thinking it was going to be a huge advancement from the Diablo series (I know they're seperate games/worlds, but there were similarities besides the people who made it).

What a huge let down...

Now, I'm actually looking forward to D3.

Arkham City, before that I honestly can't remember, maybe Halo 2. Arkham City kind of brought me back as a gamer.

vote-for1vote-against

Portal 2. Was a long before that when I really looked forward to a game, probably Kingdom Hearts 2 years ago.

Myst. Don't like shooters, did enough in real life.

vote-for1vote-against

Starcraft 2 and now Diablo 3. And Guild Wars 2.

Hubby and I have been waiting for Diablo III since we finished DII & the expansion, DII:LOD. So, we're VERY excited about DIII's release next month, and even more so after playing the beta all weekend. One CE & one DE pre-purchased.

We're even more excited about Guild Wars II. No release date yet, but we did pre-purchase and will be playing the beta for the first time this coming weekend. :::squee!!!:::

Otherwise, I can't really say there've been any games that we were on pins & needles waiting anxiously for... last one probably was DII:LOD, actually.

The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition.... been awaiting it anxiously for the past 2 months and it's more then living up to the expectation!

Q-bert for the Colecovision. Many others count as "anticipated", but that one is the last "really excited" one.

I was excited for Gears of War 3 when it came out and am currently waiting for Bioshock Infinite to come out :)

Shadowrun Returns

Technically it's "backing" the game on Kickstarter, with a 9 month wait.

Man, wow... 9 month pre-order... AND I'm SO !#$%'ing EXCITED. I've been waiting for. This game since the early/mid 90's, after Shadowrun for SNES promised a Shadowrun 2, that nevermaterialized.

The best part is, Jordan Weisman - original creator of the whole Shadowrun universe is making the game with his new company. Man, just the prospect of a simple 2D RPG that doesn't even have a screenshot yet, is makin me squeal like a fraggin grade school girl. Can't. Wait!

Most recently, that has been released: Mass Effect 3. Still excited, and waiting: StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm (and, after that, whatever the 3rd one is going to be called)

Counter strike source. Now? Cs:go. Seriously cant wait i dream about it sometimes

None... Most of the time I am out of the loop when news and hype comes of a new game. And I am also (most of the time) sitting on hardware way out of spec to be able to play the latest games.
This has changed recently, just spent too much money (I refuse to add up the cost of the parts) building myself a new rig specifically to play some of the latest games. We will see how long that lasts before I am out of date again.

Either Portal 2 or Homefront. Not sure which.

vote-for3vote-against

Maybe "Space Quest IV", but only because some friends and I played through the first three over the course of a few weeks in our highschool computer lab (to which, I had an unauthorized key...oh yeah - we were cool!)

I'm very excited for Bioshock Infinite and Octodad: Dadliest Catch, atm. Last game to release I was excited for was Skyrim, as I'm a huge elder scrolls fan.

Mojang's (of Minecraft fame) new game: 0x10c.

As a programmer/engineer, I think this game is going to do some great things for the those interested in starting up in software. It's also going to be super fun!

Gears of War 3 for me. I actually went to the midnight release, and took the following day off work. Only time in my life I've ever done that.

@okham: That sucks bro, I had to send my Xbox360 twice! ME3 is pretty good though

The games I'm currently most excited about:
Guild Wars 2
Bioshock Infinite

I'm excited about the release of Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition (for iPad). I don't know if I'll play it, but it means that Planescape: Torment might be next.

Also, I'm somewhat excited by The Last of Us, the same way I was excited about Dead Island. I don't think I'll be AS disappointed with The Last of Us, but I've learned to temper my excited about post-apocalyptic games which are (not) about zombies.

Spelunky for the Xbox currently has me excited

Kings Quest 2. After the first one I couldnt wait to get the next and it kept going with each one after. I almost got that excited over Myst 2 but nothing can top Kings Quests for me-not even all the fancy games they come out with now.

Im pretty excited for Diablo 3 mainly because I grew up playing diablo ii. The only game ive ever preordered though was portal 2

vote-for5vote-against

Pac Man on Atari 2600. Man was that a disappointment.

vote-for4vote-against

I've got guild wars 2 pre-purchased.

First open beta is next weekend, can't wait :)

vote-for4vote-against

RAGE... turned out to be a disappointment :(

Now waiting for Borderlands 2 :)

vote-for5vote-against

Most recently Mass Effect 3, and Skyrim.

vote-for3vote-against

Assassin's Creed: Revelations. Good game, but didn't quite live up to the hype IMO.

vote-for5vote-against

I try to avoid pre-release and pre-order hype for the sake of my wallet and my expectations. Since you can spend $60 and get a complete dud or an incredible gem, i'd rather wait and have a little better idea of what I will get for my money and wait for the price to come down. Also, I have a big backlog of games I haven't played or finished yet, so I try not to get too excited for new stuff when I have so much to take advantage of already.

That being said, I did pre-order a couple of games last year with Battlefield 3 being the one I was unusually excited about. I was not disappointed.

vote-for4vote-against

I was pretty excited for the Battlefield 3
And it lived up to my expectations

vote-for5vote-against

Left 4 Dead 2. Last time I also pre-ordered a game.

vote-for4vote-against

ME3. Which I can't currently play due to my system crashing last night with the yellow light of death. :/

vote-for8vote-against

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial ruined my excitement for game releases. I am permanently scarred.

vote-for4vote-against

Gran Turismo 2. It's been a while since I was a gamer, and I wasn't much of one to begin with.
