Does eating spicy food give you weird dreams?
The few times I ate some spicy food before bed, I had some of the craziest dreams of my life. They aren't necessarily nightmares all the time, but just vivid dreams that are stranger than usual.
I'm wondering if anyone knows if this is a real thing (and not just a coincidence), why it happens (if there is any science behind it) and for you to share your weirdest "spicy food dream".
No issues here, and I'd go through a jar of salsa at least once a week, if not more often.
I believe in it. I always get the craziest dreams when I eat a lot of ice cream and drink a lot of wine before sleeping. I don't know which one does it and if it didn't mean I would have to work out every day I'd do it every night. Crazy messed up nightmares are way better than having dreams you can't remember in my book.
No. It just gives me problems in other areas.
@teenracer6: TMI! No need to say any more now!
I never get weird dreams but there have been reports of a chili that makes you hallucinate.
Hint: It's the Bhut Jolokia chili pepper.
Not spicy food. But if I take NyQuil my dreams become very bizarre.
not spicy for me as well, my Dr. prescribed something he said would help me,(chronic pain) like a glass of wine before bed he said. Those dreams were beyond weird, extremely vivid, I now drink wine before bed, no nightmares, lol
No but if you want to have some really crazy, vivid, lucid dreams take 15mg of melatonin and wait an hour before you lay down, It's wild, I use to hate trying to go to sleep but now I love it, I get to party with P Diddy and hang out with super models and drive race cars and other stuff that I usually only do on the weekends!!
