What is your opinion of the show "Downtown Abbey?"
Had some minor nosiness surgery and I'm stuck in bed for a day or so. Show has high ratings on Netflix and Amazon but I know nothing about it so I thought I'd ask this great group of people.

it is long and boring.
I didn't think I would like the show very much but I really love it. If you're at all inclined to watch it, you'll enjoy it. Most people who would hate that kind of TV wouldn't even consider it.
@littlemindy: Thank you that is what I was thinking as well
I believe its spelled "Downton"
No opinion on the show though... I'm currently watching "Mistfits" another UK show which is AWESOME
@eyeflytwohigh: It is spelled "DownTON", not "DownTOWN"
Yeah, iPad autocorrect got me
Do you like or dislike Masterpiece Theatre in general? If you like it, you'll like Downton Abbey, though it's a bit more 'soap-opery' than most Masterpiece shows.
I watch & enjoy all the Masterpiece shows & Downton is no exception.
The show depicts the lives of the privileged class on their estate, their servants, and how the two classes work together.
ive only started hearing buzz about downton abbey during this season. Season 3 I believe? So it might be hard to get started (caught up) on this.
@wootfast: That's what's great about Netflix.
I'm watching Lillyhammer tonight.
PBS is showing Season Two of Downton Abbey right now (it has already been shown in the UK), and shooting for season three is just about to begin. Season one's available on Netflix and, I think, Amazon. And, bless them (and making me especially glad I support my local station), the folks at pbs.org have the entire show available for viewing online shortly after it airs on Sunday night. So it's actually possible to start watching season one via Netflix or Amazon, and then to continue right along with season two at pbs.org.
As maybe I've hinted, I'm crazy about Downton Abbey. Maggie Smith is beyond belief. And joining the cast in season three is, so help us all, Shirley MacLaine, who should give Maggie Smith a run for her money.
I'm hopeless about this show.
I watched the first series on Netflix last fall. I wasn't sure about it during the first episode, but by the end of episode two I was thoroughly engrossed. I am currently watching series two as it airs on PBS and I am enjoying it every bit as much!!
Never watched that show but it's on my queue on Netflix. Currently I'm watching the UK version of Shameless which is an awesome show. I'm also totally addicted to "Skins" and the all time best UK tv show I've ever seen was "Survivors" I actually got misty when I found out they cancelled it. Amazing story
"nosiness surgery"? Whatever that is, I hope you're fully recovered soon!
Thanks all. I've read enough to gve it a shot.
@ginawoot: yeah the sinus cleaning out surgery. Thanks, I've almost quit bleeding.
