What response did you get when you tried to post a deal? We can't answer your question without knowing more details:

What website is the deal located on?
What category of merchadise? (book, clothing, tools, electronics, etc.)
What did the error message say, as closely as you remember it?

@magic cave: It didn't give an error message but when I clicked on submit nothing happened. I deleted and started over and same thing. It was a digital thermometer for $1 (regularly 19.99) on Amazon until midnight tonight. I'll have to try another time when I find something. Maybe I'm not set up to put a deal on.

@jenniferbreuer4: Anyone who can use the site can post a deal, but some deals are prohibited and some sites are banned.

From what you've described, the deal should have been "post-able" and the site is [cough] certainly not banned, so in all likelihood there was a technical glitch of some kind.

FWIW, I don't see any digital oral thermometers on Amazon for $1 at this time.

@magic cave: I'm guessing it's from one of the "storefronts" that were indeed banned.

vote-for7vote-against

@shrdlu: I wasn't aware some storefronts had been banned, although I'm certainly glad to know that action is available. I suspect you're correct.

@shrdlu: amazon storefronts can be singled out and be banned?!?!?! SWEET!!!

vote-for7vote-against

@nmchapma: Evidently some of the storefronts were so egregiously hinky they were banned completely back in The Great September Purge of Socks and Shills.

The new standards for both ebay and amazon storefronts call for 1000 feedback or review entries for their deals to be posted here. This will pretty well kill off the amazon storefront sleaze sites IF we take a moment to click through the deal to see if it meets the criteria. Then, if the merchant doesn't meet the 1000 minimum, we can tattle it and comment that it's been tattled and why, so other wootizens don't flood the mods with multiple tattles. Or something like that.

@magic cave: I love it :-) it's wonderful to see all our work didn't go to waste. Thanks @prettywootprincess and all your DEALS staff

It wasn't my deal in the first place but it was a very good one. I thought it was a scam and then it let me buy it so apparently it wasn't. My Woot profile told me to post a deal and to comment on more questions so that's what I was doing. I'm sure it's like every other system in the world that doesn't work correctly so not surprised.

@magic cave: I found it on Facebook and bought it on Amazon so yes there was $1 thermometer on Amazon until midnight last night.

@jenniferbreuer4 said, "I thought it was a scam and then it let me buy it so apparently it wasn't."

Surely they wouldn't take your money if it was a scam.

vote-for4vote-against

@jenniferbreuer4: I didn't mean to suggest it wasn't there when you tried to post the deal -- only that I couldn't find it when I searched for it. Amazon has an interesting habit of changing prices quickly, sometimes within a minute or two of the last time you saw the item.

If the leaderboard told you to soak your head in a chest of ice, would you do that too?

vote-for0vote-against

@durkzilla: No, but if they told me to slap you upside the head I would.

vote-for5vote-against

@jenniferbreuer4: If I give you a nickel, would you go buy a new supply of sense of humor?
