It's Friday! What are you doing this weekend?
No, I am not rep trolling. I just really want to know what you are up to this weekend - it looks like some of you are off to the movies to see Prometheus, so what else is up?
The weather here is a bit random, and I'm going to see Brave on Sunday (I got a ticket through the 2012 Seattle International Film Festival)! Looking forward to that.
I am running tomorrow morning and Sunday, and a BBQ tomorrow night! No sleeping in for me :(
Big ol' bunch of nothing for me. Then, once the week starts, I gotta get ready for next semester. I'm finally starting nursing school, so I have to get all my immunizations, get CPR, HIPPA, and Blood-borne pathogens certifications and a ton of other stuff, so I'm gonna cherish the weekend.
For the eighth time in the last nine years I will be participating in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life fundraiser. Cancer has taken a whole slew of people I love, so I try to do what I can to help fund finding a cure. I belong to a great team and we always have a blast. For those of you who don't know, the Relay is a 24 hour long event where at least one member of your team must be on the track walking at all times to help raise money in the fight against cancer. While the walking is going on, there is a ton to do like volleyball, scavenger hunts, raffles, contests, midnight karaoke, and more. Great time!
By the way, the one year I missed my wife and I were in Hawaii for our anniversary. So sue me...
Chillaxing tomorrow and Sunday going to breakfast, then up to Anaheim to check out the new Cars Land at Disney's California Adventure before it opens to the public on the 15th. Should be home before the sun goes down, should be snoozing on the sofa before nine Sunday night.
Baseball field/stadium number one of four scheduled for this summer:
Twins/Cubs at Target Field in Minneapolis tomorrow afternoon.
Also Planned:
Royals/Cardinals at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City - 6/23
Orioles/Tigers at Oriole Park in Baltimore - 7/13 (Side trip after the Roger Waters show in DC)
Cardinals/Cubs at Busch Stadium in St. Louis - 7/21
I have some tickets to the local adventure park, but I'll probably skip it. Other than that, I have a friends birthday tommorow, and some prep work to reshingle my garage.
Visiting with friends, hopefully seeing Prometheus, and going to visit our adopted rescue binturong. :) Fun (and bananas) to be had by all.
@inkycatz: Give us a review on Brave if you can...it's on my summer to-see list.
@captainsuperdawg: Most important thing I learned in BBP:
Don't stick yourself with the pointy end.
@lichme: Adventureland, FTW!!!
bootlegging moonshine, followed by a nap.
@unclefrog: I am jealous. I love baseball, hope you have a blast...
@okham: Good to know :-)
Hanging out at the house. My wife leaves in a few minutes for a camp out with some girls in our youth program. I'll be home all alone. Peaceful home with nothing to do.
I'm bored already.
Helping my brother move.
Three days of a cousin's wedding festivities with the inlaws spending the weekend in (hopefully) our guest room and then helping a friend move on Sunday. Somewhere in there I need to squeeze some time in to catch a feral cat and kitten in my neighbor's yard before something bad happens to them.
tldr; I can't wait for Monday. ;)
I'm going to be taking my Firefighter 1 practical final tomorrow. Going into a burn building to play around with fire & water for about 4-5 hours!
I'm going to attempt to get rid of all the earworms I got from this question.
packing :(
Camping!
@zethreal: Good Luck!
sleeping in
Tomorrow I'm going to breakfast with my Mom and my cousin and his wife, then shopping. Sunday I plan on laying by the pool and doing nothing but relaxing.
Though I'm thinking I rather be hanging out with @pemberducky for the moonshine, it's time to make another batch of apple pie! :)
it's after 7pm on the east coast and I just got done cutting grass. I am gonna eat my dinner soon. Tomorrow I begin working on two projects, a firepit in the backyard, and dismanteling our swing. The last storm came through with high winds and flipped over the swing (think porch swing) and it's stand. Lots of busted pressure treated wood. I'll use it to burn in the fire pit. It's the copper treated lumber not the kind with arsenic.
Thought we were getting the big one with that storm.
Oh, and I will be checking my garden's progress several times.
Promethus.
Knitted snails in Volunteer Park: http://www.capitolhillseattle.com/2012/06/08/warning-volunteer-park-to-be-infested-by-giant-knitted-snails
All day LAN party downtown.
@mtm2: Thanks!
All the rest has been fun & this is a culmination of everything... we're going to be doing a bit of everything we've learned the past 12 weeks. All the various chiefs from the departments with students will be there along with family & other firefighters.
It's a huge production here.
@gottaturnupthesound: When I read your link introduction I assumed knitted snails must be a highly venomous species I'd not heard of that was unique to the pacific northwest..... then I read the link and nearly laughed myself silly. :)
As for me, I'm going to a giant smorgaasboard fundraiser thingie tomorrow.
Baseball for me, also.
NCAA Super Regional South Carolina Gamecocks vs Oklahoma Sooners in Columbia!
Gooooooooooooooooooooo COCKS!
(Sigh) I have to work from 7 AM until 1 PM(woot time) tomorrow, and maybe relax a bit(drink beer) until the Heat/Celtics game. Sunday I have a family reunion that will be too long(but with lunch included), then mow the lawn. My life is so exciting sometimes it scares me. DW will fit in all weekend though! :)
Studying, because I am lame.
I forgot to mention that the Scott County Rodeo starts tonight(it used to be T-F-S but has apparently been cut back to two days), and the Turkey Track bluegrass festival begins Tuesday. I won't attend either, though most of our county will.
Finally had a movie date night with my husband tonight to see Dark Shadows, then we are headed to my Dad's tomorrow to help setup for my step-brother's graduation party on Sunday. I may or may not be hosting the karaoke portion of the party (that's up to the guest of honor).
Hmmm nada! Maybe visiting parents/in-laws with the kiddo tomorrow (she has requested to see her gparents and cousins), and there's a carnival/festival about an hour away that we may go to on Sunday. We'll see. Hubby is out with friends tonight, so he may not be up for much tomorrow hahah men.... :p The kiddo and I will probably hit up the library for a few activities in the morning and the playground/pool in the community. We'll make it work :)
Trying to get a couple of weeks ahead in my college class work so I don't have to do it while I am on vacation.
working. Going out of town next weekend!
garage sale 8-noon saturday, then laundry, then going to a bbq pool party. Setting up for a kids party for my youngest daughter on Sunday, then BBQ'ing at home, then getting ready for out of state trip next week.
Keeping the two youngest granddaughters while the oldest granddaughter graduates from college tomorrow. Possibly out to dinner with all of them and possibly keeping the kids overnight. Maybe some Adventure Golf or Go-Karts with the kids. Sunday, neice's college graduation party.
Just saw Swan Lake performed by Bolshoi Ballet. It was amazing.
Watching my son play baseball. Double header today starting in one hour and then another game tomorrow. Love watching the kids play! Also, we went strawberry picking yesterday, so after the games I'll be cleaning a boatload of strawberries for jam.
I saw prometheus last night, kinda have mixed feelings about it.
Visually it was amazing and the 3d was actually very good which was a nice change.
However, the characters were rather hollow, the story was vague and ambiguous and the dialogue was cheesy.
It was still quite entertaining though.
Not to bring this thread back from the dead, but I wanted to update it... I passed the Firefighter 1 practical & had a ton of fun! Melted my face shield ( it was a cheap one & it happens ).
