Fake leak?
As @jsoko mentioned in http://deals.woot.com/questions/details/461188d6-9988-4871-a240-412dfd2f4f9c/who-is-staying-up-to-check-dailysteals-to-see-if-they-have-the-hp-touchpad-for-9#13, dailysteals may have posted the HP touchpad deal to get more traffic on their site. I contacted them through chat and asked about the deal, to which the representative replied, "This is not available for purchase today, it was posted momentarily yesterday as we experienced a glitch with our site." I believe it was an intended mistake, but I also believe that they may get their hands on the HP touchpads in the future because HP is "producing one last run of touchpads to meet unfulfilled demands." So I'm not going to abandon the idea that they actually have them, but I thought it was funny that they had this little "glitch."
Do you think more traffic to their site translates into more sales for them? I guess if there are ads, they might see a little more ad revenue but I would guess that people that want $99 touchpads aren't going to buy anything else when they go to dailysteals.
Good point! i just thought it was a weird glithc
Well the strange thing is that it was "leaked" earlier that day - hours before roll over (/new deal posting).
But a handful of people reported that it appeared momentarily on the site...which makes absolutely no sense. Did they know their site was going to "glitch" 24hrs in advance?
Or, did I read it wrong and am completely misinterpreting everything?
You be the judge. (<- super obscure reference to an old TV show heh...I was talking to somebody about it earlier.. can't remember who)
