questionsdid anyone else see their rep score change…

BTW, I know that Rep questions get downvoted, but I really am curious about this.

vote-for15vote-against

Nope, mine is about the same.

vote-for8vote-against

Mine is pretty much where I left it. But I have seen it drop precipitously when I haven't asked a question recently. But that much of a drop does seem odd.

vote-for9vote-against

I did notice that for a couple days my Rep was static, even while I was posting a deal, commenting on posts, etc. And then yesterday evening it finally updated.
Perhaps it had cached everyone's old Rep score for a while, displaying that while your actual score was dropping, but you didn't see it gradually drop and were shocked when the update finally was displayed?

I've seen mine jump around before, quite a bit. I haven't figured out a perfect system to it, but, for me, it seems to follow somewhat of a pattern.
Say I'm sitting at around 10 on the leaderboard, and have been very active for the past two or so weeks. I've found that even when I stop everything for a good 5 days to a week, I won't move much from that spot on the leaderboard. However, when I come back, and do anything that is listed on those little meters (vote, comment, post), it often happens that my reputation drops dramatically, down to where I would expect it would be after a period of inactivity.
Like I said, this isn't really "tried and true". Just something I've noticed. :)

Speaking from the "green" side of the tracks, no, my rep hasn't changed. It always hangs around about the same number. But my awesome meter has taken a hit. Do I look less awesome to you? Hmm.

vote-for8vote-against

@barnabee: No, dear, you still look pretty awesome to me. So awesome, in fact, that I nearly named my rescue kitty after you!

vote-for5vote-against

Yikes! I just checked again and it shot back up about to where it was yesterday! My Rep score shot up nearly 2 full points and my Questions Asked score shot up over 40 points! Interesting. I must have wandered in to a DW hiccup or something.

vote-for6vote-against

Mine appears to be right where I parked it last night. Maybe your rendition of "Touch-A, Touch-A, Touch Me" was a little rusty and frowned upon? :)

vote-for5vote-against

@belyndag: Awww, and how is that little love bug of a kitty doing? (And congrats on the new upward trend!)

vote-for7vote-against

Lichme is still #1 and I'm still in the top15, I doubt they changed anything.

Just so you know questions asked seem to start diminishing (and hard) after seven days.

vote-for5vote-against

@jsimsace: Dang! And I thought I was right on key. Maybe there was something a bit "off" with my Frankenfurter costume. What am I saying? EVERYTHING is off with EVERY Frankenfurter costume!

vote-for8vote-against

@barnabee: Kitty love bug is a hoot! Her favorite spot to sleep is on my chest, right under my chin, or on my shoulder with her nether regions pointed toward my face. Urgh! I don't even want to think about how this will work when she reaches full size!

Speaking of which, she has doubled in size since her rescue from the car engine. And her favorite game is "Attack the Shih Tzu." Fortunately, the Shih Tzu enjoys the same game.

vote-for4vote-against

@cowboydann: Maybe that was it, although I still think I just caught a short glitch since my Questions Asked score dropped by about 45 points overnight, then shot right back up an hour or so later. [Cue Twilight Zone theme music.]

vote-for10vote-against

Mine dropped about 20 points last night and I lost my black triangle (again). The thing is I had recently jumped up about 20 points into the black triangle range for no reason I could fathom; now I am back where I was. Maybe they "fixed" something. Maybe they went to a backup database. Maybe the phase of the moon is acting up, or it has something to do with global warming.

vote-for14vote-against

It's a moving window. It is affected by all sorts of things, including the "popularity" or "topitivity" of other folks' questions. It isn't really updated in real time, or anything like real time, but the updating is also relative (rather than some guaranteed interval).

To paraphrase: "The moving window marks, and having marked, moves on, and neither your piety nor wit can wash out a percentage point of it."

vote-for4vote-against

And now after this question youre at 99, so youre ok :)

vote-for6vote-against

@cowboydann: I've asked a single question on deals.woot. On the top questions leader board thing I went from like 5th to 0% after 7 days so it appears that questions don't count at all after a week.

vote-for4vote-against

I am at 99.2 .1 .3 can not get to .4. I can vote as much as I want or tells me form the hint. It does not go Higher.

vote-for4vote-against

Reading this post made me look at mine and it's the first time since the change with the dashboard and all. Interesting revelations!

vote-for4vote-against

@sportster25: Strangely enough, it seemed to jump back to 99 just about the time I was posting the question, so I'm not sure it had much to do with it. I still think there was some kind of hiccup, or a black hole, or a crop circle or something.

vote-for4vote-against

@shrdlu: Lovely! You wax poetic over Woot Reputation! (The Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám not withstanding!)

vote-for6vote-against

Mine is the same. My always seems to top off at 98%, the mysteriously fall to somewhere between 92 and 96, then suddenly be at 98. And, it happens with me pretty much being consistant on a daily bases with various activities.

But, as I've said before, sort of rhetorically since people keep posting about their ranking.. who cares?

vote-for3vote-against

I think I find that if you are in the 30 range it stays steady at around 33. Once you tend to go up keeping it up is not so easy.

vote-for3vote-against

Minr dropped about 6 points over the last week. That's what I get for going away on vacation with no internet access!

vote-for2vote-against

I wish I could figure this out. I went from 99.4 yesterday to 98.6 today. I voted posted did every thing I should do and still went down.

vote-for3vote-against

I’ve been spending less time here, and have stopped trying to keep my reputation up.

For the people frustrated by a stalled reputation, I would like to share my theory on why I managed to spend a few weeks in the top 15 without that much activity. Kind of an experiment to see if it works for someone else.

Continued . . .

vote-for4vote-against

I consider reputation kind of a game; it’s all about timing:

Vote only for deals that you’re pretty sure will be popular. Vote for them in the first 2-3 hours of posting so others can vote after you. Being one of the first ten votes on a popular community deal is best.
Try to post deals when they’ll stay on the fresh page longer. (Post when the last deal on the fresh page is over one hour old so people will have time to see your deal).
Ask a sincere question at least once a week.
Also, I don’t think the leaderboard has a meter for voting on comments on the deal side – don’t forget that, and pay attention to the other meters and suggestions.

I’d be really interested to know if this works for anyone, since it’s just my best guess.

vote-for5vote-against

@notanaardvark, et al:

You don't have to post questions or deals. (I last did so back in January and my rep is holding around 96%, within 3% of what it was back then.)

You don't have to tattle every day. (I do it about once a week on average, usually tattling about five to ten deals when I do. About a day later, my rep normally goes up at least 0.5%, usually more.)

You don't have to vote every day. (I've skipped a day, other than voting for sponsored deals and my own comments and answers, on several occasions. When I vote successfully (meaning early and a lot of people follow my lead), it helps my rep but tattling seems to be more of a boost)

About the only thing that I've not skipped ever is posting at least one comment or answer (and along with it, my own vote for said comment or answer). So, maybe not adding content at all would kill my rep, but I cannopt think of the last time I didn't want to make at least one comment or answer, so why fight it?

vote-for1vote-against

@baqui63: Good points, but I was talking about the top 15. Don't think you can make it to the top 15 without posting deals or questions.

vote-for2vote-against

@notanaardvark:

Probably not.

I made it as high as #4 back when I was posting questions and deals.

Since so many people are under the impression that one MUST post deals and questions to maintain a black triangle, my goal was to determine what it actually takes. I really don't care much about rep, provided I remain black (I don't want to go back).
