What is the best ice cream flavor?
I just returned from an NCAA baseball game and the warm weather had me craving ice cream. I had a delicious bowl of rainbow sherbet (I know...not technically one flavor.... or ice cream). It really was delicious, cool and refreshing.
so what is it.....boring vanilla? rich chocolate? A Ben & Jerry conglomeration?
About 3-4 years ago I bought a few limited time flavors of mint chocolate chip ice cream with M&M's inside. It has long been gone, but every time I go past the ice cream isle, I always look for it still.
Homemade vanilla - hands down!
Mint chocolate chip. :)
Or rocky road. I just can't really stand any of the "plain" flavors. Chocolate, vanilla, etc...
So many to choose from.
Currently I'm enjoying chocolate cookies and cream by, I think Dryers. Chocolate ice cream with oreo-like cookies. I also like the chocolate version of Moose Tracks - chocolate ice cream, fudge swirl, mini peanut butter cups.
Baskin' Robbin's peanut butter and chocolate has always been a favorite of mine.
But it's hard to beat Blue Bell Homemade vanilla with Sanders Milk Chocolate Hot Fudge sauce and maybe a few sprinkles. Unfortunately Blue Bell and Sanders Hot Fudge are regional delicacies from different regions (Texas and Michigan respectively) so it takes some doing to put that combination together.
If it's store bought-- mint chocolate chip. Has to be the "green" mint chocolate chip, though, cause then the ice cream is minty, too, instead of vanilla ice cream with mint chocolate. I know, technicalities, but it MATTERS! Or the Girl Scout Samoas flavor. Mmmmm.
Homemade...my mom used to make peppermint ice cream. YUM. I think Edy's does a seasonal one that's peppermint, and it's pretty tasty, but not homemade tasty.
Frozen custard is dreamy good too...if you've never had it, you're seriously missing out!
Yes, please. I've never had a bad ice cream flavor. :)
So many to choose from, and only one lifetime to do it in. Best get to it! Current favorite flavors are cookie dough, and this yummy creamy swirly carmel in vanilla package Edy's puts together. Gosh, I could go through a hafl gallon in a night if I didn't stop myself. I do like a well made black raspberry, and the kind with cookies (preferably oreos) crumbled in. Almost anything with good hot fudge dripped over it will do it!
rum raisin (hagen dazs brand
I'm boring. I love chocolate ice cream!
Dang it, now I want some :)
I like my coffee black, but I like my coffee ice cream Haagen-Dazs!
Dang! Now I'm gonna have to dig out my emergency stash from the back of the freezer.
@aafalke: Edy's Ice-creams Rule!!!
Especially the Samoas limited releases...
So many others are worthy like the broken butterfingers mix... Yummmm....
Gaining weight just thinking about them...
Blue Bunny chocolate chip cookie dough
Hershey's cotton candy
Bruster's cotton candy explosion (has pop rocks in it)
Starbucks Java Chip
A good mint chocolate chip comes in a close second.
At one point in time, Edy's made a heavenly blueberry cheesecake swirl ice cream that I could not stop eating when we had it in our freezer.
I'm a fan of the ice cream made at the Penn State Creamery. ( http://creamery.psu.edu/products/ice-cream ) Their Peachy Paterno really tastes like fresh peaches and cream, and the Apple Cobbler Crunch is like eating apple pie and ice cream. ALL of their flavors are worth standing in line for. The mouth feel...oh, the mouth feel!
@pitamuffin: I just recently tried the Starbucks Java Chip and liked it alot. Haagen-Dazs coffee has a rich smoothness, but the chocolate in Starbucks is a nice treat.
Rocky Road is tops but Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey is a close second.
Chocolate Chip never gets old, especially the ones from Thrifty (aka Rite Aid now).
Cherry! Cherry! Cherry!
@hobbitss: haha I gain weight thinking about it too...I currently have the single serve of Edy's "rich and dreamy" in a variety of flavors. They claim to be half the fat/calories per serving...that means I get to eat twice as much, right???
The best Ice cream flavor: The one I am eating!
99% of the time it's chocolate, but in October, November it's pumpkin! Absolutely wonderful.
Butter Pecan or Turkey Hill Coconut Almond.
Swenson's Ice cream parlors: plain old Chocolate. Has a very unique chocolate flavor, and is almost pink instead of brown
Bud's ice cream of San Fran: French Chocolate. Same as above.
Baskin robins: World Class chocolate. Mix of white and milk chocolate.
Thrifty-store Ice cream (now found in many rite-aid stores): Chocolate chip. Vanilla ice cream with tons of small slivers of chocolate chips.
Chocolate peanut butter.
We have a few ice cream places nearby that make their own flavors. In the summer, I can never decide between the piña colada and the pineapple upside down cake flavors, so I usually get both. My buddy has been telling me I need to check out this other place. They have Chocolate Stout ice cream made with chocolate stout from one of the local breweries as well as Brown Sugar, Whiskey and Bacon.
I like vanilla
It's the finest of the flavors
@urocyon: BNL reference!
sandwich...ice cream sandwich. I wanted to put chocolate chip cookie dough or reese's© from dryer's, but my Android has a pen-gun on me and has somehow managed to adorn a suave tuxedo and threatened me if I didn't write that...it's almost as if it's some sort of international spy or something....
