Does thread count really matter when choosing sheets?
I am thinking of getting some new sheets but there are so many thread counts available do they really matter?

there have been a bunch of other discussions, including one recently i believe
Thanks, that was very helpful!
Go to a store like B, B and B and feel the difference for yourself. I have some 200 thread count, some 600 and some 1000 and you can clearly feel the difference between each. 600 or more usually feels pretty good.
Yes, it matters, but it must be taken into consideration with the type of material (cotton versus a mix). Personally, I've found that the 400 thread count, egyption or pima cotton, are the best bet. Always soft, never pill up. are relatively inexpensive and go into the washer and dryer. A little wrinkly from the dryer, but just putting them on the bed takes away the wrinkles.
Sam's Club is the place I've found with the best buy on them. Good Luck!
@susan11125: Please don't comment on old questions (look at the date this was posted). No one will normally see your comment. The only reason I saw it is because I was specifically looking at your comment history, in relation to the comment you'd posted earlier today about voting.
shrdlu: Sorry about that. I hadn't noticed the date.
Here is an excellent video on thread count, I think you may find this useful!
