I have one and it keeps coming up when I'm alone. I want to get rid of it but all attempts have failed. I'll share and maybe someone else will get this curse and I'll finally get rid of it by passing it on.

Found a peanut, found a peanut,
Found a peanut just now,
Just now I found a peanut,
Found a peanut just now.

Cracked it open, cracked it open,
Cracked it open just now,
Just now I cracked it open,
Cracked it open just now.

It was rotten, it was rotten,
It was rotten just now,
Just now it was rotten,
It was rotten just now.

Ate it anyway, ate it anyway,
Ate it anyway just now,
Just now I ate it anyway,
Ate it anyway just now.

Got a stomach ache, got a stomach ache,
Got a stomach ache just now,
Just now I got a stomach ache,
Got a stomach ache just now.

It goes on with more but you get the idea. We used to sing this as children in the 70's and it's just now coming back.

I totally remember that one!

Here's another:

I wish I had a nickel,
I wish I had a dime,
I wish I had a boyfriend
to kiss me all the time.

My mother gave me a nickel,
my father gave me a dime,
my sister gave me a boyfriend
who looked like Frankenstein

He made wash the dishes
he made me scrub the floor
he made me eat a spider
by the kitchen door

I know an old lady who swallowed a fly,
I don't know why she swallowed the fly,
I guess she'll die.

I know an old lady who swallowed a spider,
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly,
I don't know why she swallowed the fly,
I guess she'll die.

I know an old lady who swallowed a bird,
How absurd to swallow a bird!
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her,
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly,
I don't know why she swallowed the fly,
I guess she'll die.

I know an old lady who swallowed a cat,
Imagine that, to swallow a cat!
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird,
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her,
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly,
I don't know why she swallowed the fly,
I guess she'll die.

Down by the bay,
Where the watermelons grow,
Back to my home,
I dare not go,
For if I do,
My mother will say:

Usually follows some kind of variation on "Did you ever see a , ing a _"

"Did you ever see a tree, singing with a bee?"
"Did you ever see a fox, hiding in a box?"
"Did you ever see a fish do a hula in a dish?"
"Did you ever see a duck in a pickup truck?"
"Did you ever see a bee, with a sunburnt knee?"
"Did you ever see a snake baking a cake?"
"Did you ever see a cat, wearing a hat?"
"Did you ever see a moose, kissing a goose?"
"Did you ever see an ant, climbing a plant?"
"Did you ever see a whale, with a polka-dot tail?"
"Did you ever see a bear, combing his hair?"
"Did you ever see a mouse, building a house?"
"Did you ever see llamas, eating their pajamas?"
"Did you ever see a goose, kissing a moose?"

"...down by the bay?"

Here's an old jump rope one I remember.
Down in the valley where the green grass grows
There sat (insert name of jumper) sweet as a rose
She sang, she sang , she sang so sweet
That along came (insert name) and kissed her on the cheek
How many kisses did she get that day?

vote-for6vote-against

Fudge, fudge, Call the judge.
[Jumper's name] havin' a baby.
Wrap it up in tissue paper,
Send it down the elevator,
Boy, girl, twins, triplets
[Repeat last line until jumper misses a jump.]

More jump rope:

Not last night, but the night before
Twenty-four robbers came knocking at the door
As I ran out, they ran in,
And this is what I heard them say:

Spanish dancers do the splits, splits, splits
Spanish dancers give a high kick, kick, kick
Spanish dancers turn around, 'round, 'round
Spanish dancers get out of town!

{On the last line, you leave, and it's someone else's turn.}

Funny, but most of the ones mentioned here are ones I knew, and in many cases, know far more verses than were printed, esp "I know an old lady" which ends with:

"I know an old lady who swallowed a horse. She's dead, of course." I loved Burl Ives, who sang that one, years ago.

{Thanks, @ohcheri; such memories, all these bring back. :-D }

@shrdlu: If you're a Stephen King fan it goes more like:

Late last night or the night before
Tommyknockers, Tommyknockers knocking at the door
Wanna go out
don't know if I can
'cause I'm so afraid of the Tommyknocker man!

Early one morning, in the middle of the night
Two dead boys got up to fight

Back to back they faced each other
Drew their swords and shot each other

A deaf policeman who heard the noise
Came in and killed the two dead boys

If you don't believe my story's true,
Ask the blind man - he saw it too!

Miss Susie had a baby
She named him Tiny Tim
She put him in the bath tub to see if he could swim

He drank up all the water.
He ate up all the soap
He tried to eat the bathtub but it wouldn't go down his throat

Miss Susie called the doctor
Miss Susie called the nurse
Miss Susie called the lady with the alligator purse

In walked the doctor
In walked the nurse
In walked the lady with the alligator purse

Mumps said the doctor
Measles said the nurse
Nothing said the lady with the alligator purse

Out walked the doctor
Out walked the nurse
Out walked the lady with the alligator purse

That was down with patterned clapping w/ a partner. ( I don't know what you call those games )

Of course, then there is the classic jump rope rhyme :

{insert name of jumper} and {insert name of boy at school} sitting in a tree
K - I - S - S - I - N - G
First comes love
Then comes marriage
Then comes {name of jumper and boy} with a baby carriage.
How many children will they have ?
{Count out until jumper misses}

@ceagee: The first of these (that I know of) is the old nursery rhyme, Pease Porridge.

Pease porridge hot, pease porridge cold
Pease porridge in the pot, nine days old.

Some like it hot, some like it cold,
Some like it in the pot, nine days old.

There's also:

Patty cake, patty cake, baker's man
Bake me a cake, as fast as you can.
Prick it, and pat it, and mark it with "B"
And throw in the oven for Baby and me.

{There is an actual Wikipedia page for that one. Whoa.}

Here is a fascinating link (which supports my thought that it tends to be almost entirely girls that do hand-clapping rhymes):

http://mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=63097

{Except for "hand jive" that was popular in the early days of rock and roll...}

@shrdlu:
The hand jive was sort of before my time. Came back into vogue w/ the movie "Grease"

Thanks for that link. Lots of rhymes and games there I forgot. We used to go into the bathroom at night with a flashlight and hold it under our chins and chant " I believe in Molly Sturges" ( or some such name. Not sure on that one I googled the name and came up empty ) Anyways we'd say this over and over until we "saw her" in the mirror. And run screaming out .
Drat. I wish I knew what the name was for sure and why we used that name. Ok the why is probably because my older sister said to. lol

I just remembered an alternate line to add in to the " K I S S I N G" jump rhyme :

Then comes baby{or insert a combo name from the jumper and the boy } in a baby carriage.
Sucky his thumb, wetting his pants, doing a little hula dance.

It wasn't always jumping rope. We'd tease a friend who liked a boy. Boys had cooties then.

Amazing my brain can come up with this stuff long forgotten.

A sole...

A soldier I will be!

For qu

Two pis
Two pis
Two pistols on my knee

Fight for the Queen's cont
Fight for the Queen's cont
Fight for the Queen's country

(It works better if you sing it aloud - first three stanzas are to the tune of Eine Keine Nachtmusik, not sure what tune exactly is used for the 4th)

@cengland0: In the version that I heard the main character was "Miss Lucy"
(She was also the one with the baby Tiny Tim)

Also

"Miss Lucy sat upon it
and it went right up her

Ask me ..."

@mml666: I looked up the lyrics to the "Miss Suzy" song and found out there are several different versions with some minor differences. There seems to be several websites dedicated to pointing out what those differences are. Interesting.

@mml666: In the version I remember it was "Billy" who had the steamboat.

Another jump rope or clapping game song:

Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack
All dressed in black, black, black
With silver buttons, buttons, buttons
All down her back, back, back.
She asked her mother, mother, mother
for fifty cents, cents, cents
To see the elephants, elephants, elephants
Jump the fence, fence, fence.
They jumped so high, high, high
they reached the sky, sky, sky
And didn't come back, back, back
Till the 4th of July, ly, ly!

@ohcheri: I've been watching your climb up the leaderboard, and today, while checking on moofi deals (I'm lazy, and the leaderboard always seems to have a prebuilt search for them)...

You are Number One! Ah, if only @jumbowoot was still around. I even took a screenshot. You should too. You can put it on the storefront for your site, so that everyone will know you truly made it.

vote-for3vote-against

@shrdlu: Awww...thanks for noticing and going to the trouble of a screenshot :-)

Back in the olden days, before lingerie became evil around here, I spent many a happy day at #1. It used to be the best "deal finders" were given more weight on the Leaderboard algorithm but now it's the "question askers" that make their way to #1.

Still at number 1 2 days later....
