I can think of no reason for everyone not to have their own account. I guess there must be some reason if that is what you do.

The only reason my wife and I ever share an account is if having one costs money per month (e.g. Netflix).

For woot purchases, yes. She does not use DW right now, so NO now on the DW side.

I used to guess xmas gifts when it was a one deal a day site, because I would know what was for sale every day and suddenly she would say 'I got something from woot and it will be here soon, please do not check your purchase history.'

Wife had her own woot account, but probably doesn't know password now... It came in handy back when woot sold BOCs...

One reason to share a woot account is all purchases go towards one account and you'll get your black square in no time! We also share an amazon account for most purchases because it has Prime on it and her account (mostly for kindle books) does not.

I suppose if you're looking at woot as a social network site, you should have different accounts. If you use it as an online retailer, it doesn't really matter if you share it. For example, we order pizza online and we don't have two accounts for that.

Separate accounts here.
She doesn't even know the username or password for hers, but her name is all over it.

My wife has her own account for xmas purchases, but that hasn't been used for a while since amawoot came around. Now if we buy something it always on this account.

We have separate woot accounts, but I think he's used his only twice. Anything he wants gets ordered on my account.

On DW, he doesn't have an account at all. On a few other sites we have separate accounts; our amazon accounts are separate, but since the Prime account is mine, all orders these days go through mine (except if he's doing covert shopping for gifts).

@caffeine_dude: @magic cave: How does that even work? I thought Woot accounts were universal across all sites.
Unless they changed something in the way they do accounts sometime in the past and I missed it.

Nope. @mrbeny has his very own account, complete with red triangle but he is rarely around.

@bsmith1: you can give her membership in your prime, if you didn't know.

up to 2 (or 3?) family members IIRC

Yeah, and any time my account posts a rude or unpopular comment, it is the wife :)

vote-for5vote-against

I don't think my wife knows what woot is, I'd like to keep it that way.

vote-for5vote-against

@goatcrapp: Oh yeah. I think I already set that up. Only prime shipping benefits, not streaming vids and whatnot. Still easier to track purchases in one place.

I share mine with a belligerent jerk, a drunken comedian, an adoring father, and an opinionated hipster.

We have separate accounts for most places; woot, amazon, newegg, etc. But for some things we share - Netflix being first to come to mind. I couldn't imagine trying to buy for birthdays or Christmas from a single account. Heck, we got separate credit cards for the same reason. The dang bill would give stuff away.

@j5: I'm not sure what you're asking. Is this the answer you're seeking? "I'm usually the Designated Purchaser of Stuff, so if there's a woot item he wants he usually asks me to order it, which means I do so on the account in my name and on my credit card. He hasn't used his own woot account in a long time."

If that's not the explanation, could you try rewording your question? I'm feeling a little dense today.

vote-for3vote-against

@j5: Oh, wait! Were you noting that if he has a Woot account, he'd be able to use it here on DW also? If that's what you meant, then yes, you're perfectly correct, and I expressed myself poorly in my first post. If he wanted to make comments here, he would of course use the same "woot account" with which he has ordered a woot.com item in the past.

I need a nap, I think.

@goatcrapp: OH?! I can put the spouse on my Prime account? Oh, be still, my heart! Life just got easier. Can't believe I didn't know that. Thanks!

I shared an account with my SIL for a while, before I got to be so active over here. Actually she just let me use hers when I wanted to buy more than 3 of an item for Christmas gifts, or a WootOff was in progress and we took turns watching for the elusive BOCs. I could probably remember her password if I try really hard.

As far as DH, he is almost anti-Woot. Well, mostly he just teases me about the packages that arrive for me from my online purchases, although he is usually quite happy if it's something I bought for his boat!

I'm the only person that can marry Shimself

Hubby and I have seperate accounts only so I can buy more caramels!!!

vote-for7vote-against

Yes, we share. If by sharing you mean she looks at stuff and says 'buy that for me'.

vote-for6vote-against

I'm the only wooter in my household. @magic cave: As I read through the responses I was thinking that some Prime users might not know that it can be shared, then saw where you were enlightened. :)

vote-for3vote-against

Single account user here....it works out better when you are gift shopping. :) @magic cave: Check the terms and conditions on Prime and you will see many benefits that aren't thrown out there. For instance, if you have an in-law they can use it with a different shipping address....just read it. I know that you are adept at legalese, and beer is taking over here. :)

@robingraves and @jsimsace: thanks again for your tips on using Amazon Prime!

vote-for2vote-against

@magic cave: Thanks aren't necessary, but you're welcome. I just wish I knew how all this free streaming crap worked.... :>/

My wife and I have separate accounts, although we were wootizens before we got together.
