Is there a wide-format inkjet with postscript for <$1,000?
My wife and I are looking to replace and consolidate our printers. Currently we have an HP LaserJet 4MP (yes, 4MP from the early 1990s), and two Epson inkjets (one photo that can do borderless 8.5x11, one wide-carriage that can do color up to 13x19).
We would like to, at the very least, replace the two inkjets with one. Hence we need a wide-format inkjet that does postscript (our current wide does not, which has been a problem at times for my wife).
The problem is that while PS support is common for 8.5x11 printers at (almost) all price points, it is very uncommon or wide printers. So far the least expensive printer I've seen with PS support that can do 13x19 (or even 11x17) was around $1,200. At that price point we'll just keep our old printers or even outsource printing when needed.
I've checked Epson and HP, haven't found a candidate yet. I haven't tried Canon but I expect to see the same there. Anyone have a suggestion?
I found one for less than $1000, albeit not by much.
It might work for you.
@lumpthar: Thanks for finding that! I can't say I'm likely to run out and buy it immediately - at this price I'd have to do quite a bit of printing for it to pay off - but it's good to at least see one come in below the $1,000 mark.
I can't help but wonder though why on earth I can get a color inkjet with PS support that goes up to 8.5x11 for $200 or less, but I can't get one that can do even 11x13 for less than $1,000. I presume the printer companies just don't perceive a demand for such a printer.
