Sometimes the adapters can be unreliable when using it with a Tivo. Tivo has made some of its boxes only take specific adapters. What I would strongly suggest if you're familiar with wireless routers is to buy a cheap or use an old one and create it into a wireless bridge, then plug the Tivo in directly through Ethernet. This is what my house had to do after 4 wireless adapters were not accepted by the Tivo.

Using a Tivo G adapter, you will have 54mbps at best. Using Valorfive's suggestion of connecting the Tivo port to a bridge port will double the speed of the connection from 54 to 100mbps. The bridge can be either wired or wireless, and if it has more than one port, will allow guests to access the network without giving out the passcode, or allow other internet devices to connect, such as an xbox360, ps3 etc.

Whaa? Sure, you'll get 100Mbps to the bridge, but then you're still only gonna get 54Mbps back to the main wireless router (assuming G speeds and not an N network).

I'm sure you're probably not looking anymore, but your local radioshack may have them on clearance for around 5 bucks.
