Wishlist - Request deals
While I love the randomness of everyone posting deals they find, how about a feature that we can post our wishlist item and ask others to help us find deals on items we already know we want?
That way others can help us find the best deals from places we otherwise wouldn't know about.
plausible? practical?

Better yet, we can post a deal that we like - and see if anyone can do better on price, options, shipping, etc. Kinda like a new challenge.
That's an awesome idea. Maybe we could include a maximum price that we want to pay with our "wish"?
This would be a great idea, creating a special section in ask the wooters for finding deals would help sort peoples questions better. Also when a person wants to post somethings, it could ask people to fill in certain information, like the most they want to spend and or whether they want new or refurbished.
@docb: I would love deal challenges, that sounds like that might be fun.
this is just a mild twist on the intent of Ask The Wooters.
May I suggest tag #challenge
Rep the comments of the best deal and sort by vote? Remove reps from a price that is subsequently beaten. Reward is you 'win' the available reputation. (weak?)
I kinda see how this could fit in Ask the Wooters, but it seems like enough of a niche to have its own place. If I'm looking for a challenge on a deal I want to go to a section and see just that, not sift through the conversations, tips, feature requests, and other mucky-muck to find it.
I'd definitely visit a section like this. Great idea, @docb!
@perkalicious11: Thanks for the compliment. This definitely could be a niche service that I don't see any other 'deals' site out there.
I like this idea. One of the things that I notice is that few people seem to be looking for unusal or hard to find things. It seems to be mostly posts of "Look, I found it at the very best price" (except for the Leakfrogs, which I am sad to say, I missed).
I've thought about posting requests for items that are hard to find, or unusual (but hopefully of somewhat general interest). Is there a place for that kind of thing in this special wishlist place?
@perkalicious11: I agree. Ask the Wooters is now an amalgamation of deal requests (per the FAQ) and bugs, feature and help requests, and other meta discussions that could benefit from being split in two.
@chris12345: according to the FAQ it says ask the wooters is supposed to be an almagamation, it isn't a forum like the other side of the woot site:
Ask The Wooters They probably won’t bite.
Organic bullets? Vegetarian haggis? Cheap tickets to Antarctica? The best high-performance sweatsocks for under $100? If you’re looking for a deal that doesn’t appear to show up in our Community Deals section, throw the question to your fellow cheapskates. Or answer a question for one of your fellow cheapskates. Or vote for your favorite questions, or your favorite answers, or… maybe we should call this section “Ask, Answer, Comment On, And Vote For The Wooters”, but that won’t fit on the page.
@chris12345: this perspective/request is common, yet we already have this feature in the hands of the community. Tags are infinite categorization of ATW, they just need community opinion to coalesce (followed by assistance from woot publicizing them)
for instance, if there is a theme/action that many would like to see on ATW, a hashtag term should be agreed upon and links shared to those who don't grasp the concept.. ala my suggestion earlier:
http://deals.woot.com/questions/tagged/challenge (which of course right now has no content)
same really on the deal side - I'm so waiting for the next person who emails me wanting us to open beer.woot.com so I can send them this link and tell them to get to work:
http://deals.woot.com/deals/tagged/beer (aka #beer - deal tags are nicely automated now in comments)
I need a great deal on a pair of heelys. I missed the one on 6pm.com
@mzbeers: re: Heelys: one of the bigger Ebay sellers had some "all sizes many colors" Heelys up for close to the price of the WootDeals listing, and it's a long term fixed price thing w free shipping, not an auction, lots and lots in stock. Made it to Daily Deals at one point - so you might try there....
I did buy the Heelys, but haven't tried them yet - my knee is giving me fits and I have to wrap it for now. So not yet.
