Yeah, I got an "out of stock notice", too. sigh

I got the same thing. :-(

I think it's out of stock because they don't want to fill these orders for Wooters.

Out of stock here, too. Bummer.

Yep, it's ridiculous. Businesses need to come up with a better way of dealing with these situations than just cancelling without prior notification or a raincheck option. So far I know that Amazon, BestBuy, and now Staples, have done this on items that they couldn't stock.

It seems a couple of us got the same. I think there were at least 10 comments on the actual deal.

As for Amazon doing the same I haven't seen that. I've seen Best Buy do it but they usually do a raincheck unless they really are out of stock such as if the product was something on clearance or some type of collector's edition thing.

Yeah, I thought I had heard of Amazon doing that when I posted it, but now I can't remember why. By Googling right now, I found a few instances where they canceled items because they had been priced incorrectly, but those were few and far between, so they seem pretty much in the clear. I remembered BestBuy getting in trouble around Christmas or Black Friday for cancelling orders.

This Staples thing really aggravates me because I ended up spending 40 minutes on the phone with them, getting the discount applied, got a new confirmation e-mail yesterday with the discounted price, and the today I open up my e-mail to find this weaksauce copout. Not like they won't restock 'em.

ARGH, same here. How can they do this? It's like false advertising...come on Staples. It's 2012 - how can you not have real time inventory tracking???
