I agree, cool and thick, sitting on top with the butter.

I just drooled on my screen...

Always hot for me, I hate cold syrup. I like it hot because then the butter melts in it making the syrup buttery and delicious.

I normally like cold and hot together (I'm a cold ketchup person), but syrup's gotta be hot for me. Room temperature will do if it must. I didn't think cold was even an option... ew!

@miyoshinum5: that is an excellent point for warm syrup...buttery syrup is quite delicious!

Any way I can get it. I love pancakes and I don't care how I get my syrup.

Room temperature and it has to be real maple syrup.

First off: Real maple syrup is all that will do. Lucky my family makes its own syrup, and it's delicious. Second, I like it heated. Really brings out the maple-y flavor. Yummy.

When I'm having some pancakes I used reddi whip instead of syrup =3

Growing up in New England, we always had real maple syrup and heated it in a bowl of warm water in order to be able to loosen the cap - which results in slightly warmed syrup. Those of you who like it cold or room temperature: how do you get the cap off?!

I prefer mine chugged straight from the bottle.

@gideonfrost: Does that make you a little antsy in your pantsies? (SuperTroopers for those who don't know)

Warmed, but I'm not fond of real maple syrup and I know a number of people that feel the same way. Probably has to do with what you grew up with.

Room temp here, but butter? Pfffft...try peanut butter instead and you'll never accept anything else. :)

@neuropsychosocial: I don't think you would approve of the flip top lid that comes on my "syrup". As @pooflady conjectured, it's what I'm used to and what I grew up with was definitely NOT real maple syrup. But I do like real maple syrup and now that I think about it, I like THAT to be at least room temperature.

Room temp and real butter, none of that margarine crud. Not a real fan of warm syrup, its too runny.

Oh, and I should've mentioned-- an English expat friend of mine turned me onto Golden Syrup on pancakes instead of maple. Pretty awesome stuff.

This thread has made me crave pancakes all day.

@mkdr: Since I've never encountered an imitation syrup that did not contain a corn derivative and I'm allergic to corn, I probably wouldn't like your syrup, flip-top or no!

The only food that I regularly put maple syrup on top of is French toast (although I always put it in mashed butternut squash), so in honor of this thread, I think I'll go make some French toast. YUM!

How do you like your corn syrup?
