Which Magsafe is the right one?
the cable on my magsafe has split near where it goes into my Mac. I tried wrapping it up with electrical tape, but long story short (I'll skip details for a change), it's not holding together. It periodically doesn't work, and I'll need to tweak its position for it to connect.
I'm looking at Amazon for a replacement and I'm not sure which one to get. I think I have a 60W, but I'm not sure. Even then, does it make a difference? Logic tells me absolutely it does, but the pictures are identical
I'm fairly sure the answer is no, but would AppleCare cover a replacement? I've still got 6 months on it or so. If not: should I get my replacement directly from Apple or is a third party one just as good?
As for figuring out if I need a 60W or 85W or what have you, I've got a Mid-2009 MBP
There was actually a recall on the t-shaped connectors. You might want to touch base with apple to see if it qualifies. They replaced mine for free.
@okham: Actually did that a couple years ago. Within the first 6 months or so, the T shaped one stopped working, Apple swapped it out. This is one of them fancy flat ones they put out after.
@thedogma: ah. That's what I got when they swapped it. Probably should get another one, I think AppleCare will cover it.
@okham: Yep! Turned out that AppleCare covered a replacement. Thank you!
@thedogma: Glad that worked. I've always had good luck with Applecare.
