They again invoke the Golden Rule...the one with the gold makes the rules.

Countdown to deletion...

vote-for13vote-against

Because the PTB, like the gov't., don't like criticism especially from the people who support them.

vote-for12vote-against

It's over in the pile next to the last question about super hero undergarments. Everyone has an opinion whether pro, anti, or who cares. Thoughts shouldn't be stifled and hidden away.

vote-for12vote-against

when i saw that particular item my first thought was "ohhh...i wonder if there's a discussion on deals already..."

vote-for16vote-against

@ohcheri: Except....we're the ones with the gold. We're the customers. Well, I could be, if I had any reason to think that product would do me any good. It's a mystery to me who that photo is supposed to sell the product to, as the men who like the photo aren't likely to buy the product (look honey, I bought you shapewear!) and women want to see a model who might really use shapewear show us we could also look good in it. This is more a case of "my house, my rules", even when the rules change constantly and are not evenly applied.

vote-for13vote-against

For the same reason that all of the comments on that sale referencing deals or OhCheri or the "sexy" tag are being continually purged.

Hey Woot (because I'm sure somebody over there is checking this), I know I'm not terribly active, but if you guys don't answer to this or otherwise deal with it soon, you're off of my favorites bar. You know, the one that I click 'open all' on every morning to get you those oh-so-desired page views? Yeah. That one.

vote-for7vote-against

Just start posting deals for Footloose and other "challenge the societal norms" movies and such and they might pick up on the hint.

vote-for1vote-against

I want to know when @MatthewJFazio 's mom got a job at Woot.

Was @OhCheri not paying enough?

vote-for14vote-against

uhh, they just changed the picture on the deal to something without a person

vote-for12vote-against

Woah...check it out...they changed the pictures to less scandalous ones. Never seen that happen before.

vote-for10vote-against

Not a fan of deletes that comply with woot policies, but you have to admit when there are far more (near 100%?) about the pictures than about the product being sold, perhaps the pictures need to change. Woot might get a kick out of entertaining comments but they don't stay up in business without selling the product. ;-)

vote-for11vote-against

Now it's creepy.

Although cutting the arms and legs off a girl and photographing her barely clothed torso is definitely not sexy.

vote-for7vote-against

aaaand the skin is back. This is interesting.

vote-for7vote-against

No model on the default pic for me.

vote-for7vote-against

It's still the weirdest looking g-string I've ever seen.

vote-for16vote-against

@ohcheri:
You should find a lookalike item in your inventory and post it here as a deal.

I think when the deal gets sexy'ed Woot may implode.

vote-for12vote-against

lol, they photoshopped out the lady wearing the item.... wtf?!?!?!?!?!

vote-for7vote-against

If you click through, they still have most of the other risky pics.

vote-for9vote-against

@thepenrod: "risky" or "risque" ?? Both seem appropriate today.

vote-for11vote-against

You guys might find this interesting. Over at the zon in the customer discussions in the Gold Box forum, there is a thread about Amazon listening to the customers and going back to the old page layout. They made a change, users didn't like it and let them know so, and, get this, TPTB listened and changed it back! And the users are now grateful that they have been listened to. If the parent company can do it, why can't they do it here??

vote-for7vote-against

@magic cave: I couldn't remember how to spell risque. I figured both were true.

vote-for11vote-against

@pitamuffin: A very, very, very good point. I'd love to hear a clear answer from Woot about this. Most of us don't mind Woot making mistakes, just Woot making mistakes and failing, again and again, to fix them or even admit there's anything wrong.

vote-for15vote-against

The questions were deleted because this has been discussed before when we've run "scandalous" clothing or items on woot retail sites.

1) We can control the photos
2) We can control what you see when you click through (you don't go to another site than may have inappropriate images or items for sale
3) We can control where it's displayed.
4) It's one item and not a page full of only lingerie deals

No idea why the photo was changed. Didn't bother me.

vote-for8vote-against

@thunderthighs: Thanks for your reply. My concern wasn't about the images (as someone may have noticed, I didn't find them troubling at all) but merely about why the question itself was removed.

:::chuckling::: Your answer sounds a bit like it was written as the introduction to the old TV show "The Outer Limits." Woot's site, Woot's rules. I (we?) can live with that. I just occasionally run into fuzziness where clarity is more useful.

Thanks again.

vote-for10vote-against

@thunderthighs: of course the image didn't bother you...we figured it out to be you :)

vote-for8vote-against

@thunderthighs: Woot may be able to control the photos, but they chose ones that were just as revealing/bad (depending on your POV). Also, that one item was a whole page and when you clicked through there were even more pics.

It is unnecessary to display such items on women as is evidenced by the photo-shopped pic that replaced the original.

This is hypocritical not only on the type of items, but on the way the comments and questions are being dealt with both here and on the comments for the item. It's gone from annoying, to upsetting, and now it's at the point of pathetic.

vote-for10vote-against

@thepenrod: And that may very well be why they were replaced. Again, I just don't have info on what went on there.

vote-for8vote-against

@thepenrod: Actually, it's 'Risqué' with the accent. It is an 'accent aigu' which is French for 'acute accent'. My sis has one in her name.

vote-for7vote-against

@thepenrod: Stuff like that has to be shown on a model. Otherwise you don't know how it fits...How low is the neck line? How much does the back cover? You can't really tell when it's not on a model.

vote-for3vote-against

@bsmith1: Mannequin then? Personally, I can pretty well tell. I wouldn't buy my wife shape wear, but I've bought her plenty of undergarments (knowing of course what is comfortable for her). But what of all of the complaints that the model used didn't look like she needed the product? A number of people complained that they couldn't tell how it would fit because of that.

But all of that was actually an aside to the real issue of hypocrisy.

vote-for2vote-against

@thepenrod: I agree. Showing a skinny chick modeling shapewear is like having a grown man model diapers. It doesn't show you how the product really works or fits on the intended user, and despite providing amusement value for members of the opposite sex, is likely to generate more controversy than sales.

vote-for3vote-against

I find this question ironic. There are a number of Wooters here, who are complaining about the pictures and deletions, yet some of these same people think it is wrong for the people such as myself who started down-voting the sponsored deals when Woot decided to make the change to them.

I agree that Woot should not be deleting questions or posts they do not like but we have no one to blame but ourselves. We need to stand together and tell Woot/Amazon that we made Woot what it was (great) and we can do our best to destroy what Amazon has made it become (a mere shell of its former self) if they don't start listening to us. It's our choice.

vote-for1vote-against

did anyone start a countdown when woot will be shut down?
