T&A vs Sci-fi...

I liked them equally well based upon my age upon seeing them really. Now if only you had merged them into "Knightwatch" where Kitt was now dune buggy or some-such being driven around by women in skimpy swimsuits...

@xavoc: Great Idea Xavoc! I could picture it now, it would be a hoff&hoff mixture using One hoff of the best parts of each program. If you don't mind I'll be passing this idea on to my agent and see what we can work out.

Thanks a lot! The Hoff would love to hear what the rest of you think!

Team Knightrider. They were all junk food, but Team Knightrider raised the cheese level to the max. It's also the first place I saw Nick Wechsler, whom I have liked ever since.

Never missed an episode of Knight Rider, and had high hopes for the continuation a few years ago. Alas, they were dashed, like the waves upon the beach. I've not seen a full episode of Baywatch, but when I was in Germany, it was definitely very popular.

Welcome to the deals, Hoff. :)

edit: if you haven't seen it, there's another question involving your cardboard dopplegangers:

@davidhasselhoff: As long as you ensure it doesn't turn out to be hoff-assed.

Ooh, Kit could have a "Jetski" mode for water rescues.

Baywatch.

I haven't exactly hit puberty yet when it came out.. but I somehow liked it.. (the gals, I mean)

Honestly, I don't think I ever saw Knight Rider as a kid.. but I did see the car and guy from "The Benchwarmers".

Easy answers:

Pre-Puberty: Knight Rider

Mid- and Post-Puberty: Baywatch

From a serious standpoint Baywatch. It has been well documented that Baywatch taught more people how to do basic CPR and Mouth to Mouth Resuscitation then any other source. Since at some point in every episode they would pull someone from that water that was not breathing and they would call out step by step what they were doing as they performed Mouth to Mouth people would pick up on what you were supposed to do. Yes I know that it did not teach you details like the proper angle to put the head at for optimal breathing performance and the best placement for your hands but weakly performed CPR is still better then nothing. Baywatch saved more lives then any other TV show as odd as that may sound.

It's really hard to pick between Baywatch and Knight Rider. They're both so amazing. Honestly I'd just have to say that they tie as my two favorite shows ever. It's hard not to love the guy that brought the Berlin wall down singlehandedly.

I absolutely love Knight Rider! I haven't really watched much Baywatch, but never missed an episode of Knight Rider. Liking @xavoc 's idea about the mashup of the two, especially KITT's jetski mode.

Hey everyone, it's the Hoff.

I just want to thank everyone so much for the great responses, @raider9924 made a great point about how many lives were saved thanks to my long running TV-show Baywatch, I can't tell you how great it feels to know my show helped so many people over the many years it was on the air.

I'm really excited about bouncing around some ideas of a Knight Rider / Baywatch mashup. I figure with today's technology I can play both Michael and Mitch where we team up to save lives and fight crime on and off the beach.

@joshobra: Dude, where were you during the "best TV opening" thread. That is a near consensus winner. Whatever your flavor, it's there. So many Playmates crammed into 2 minutes.

Edit: Welcome to Deals. Just, do us a favor. Stay away from wine.woot.com, OK?

vote-for3vote-against

@wilfbrim: You mean this place sells wine too? I'd love to sample the wine but I'm a recovering alcoholic and have been sober for 5 years now. Not a drop of alcohol has touched my mouth since. I love my family too much to put them through what happened back in 2007. A glass of wine does sound really good, I'll have to go for my substitute glass of OJ though, think i'll pour myself a glass now...

Thanks again for all your advice everyone

This sounds like a hoff-baked question to raise rep. Joined today and already in the 30 range? I smell a gamer. Is it capguncowboy? Another attempt by cowboydann? It seems bogus to me. As for the OP, I prefer Baywatch. Jiggle>tech.

Too late to edit previous post. I think this another DW chat thing that I missed out on. ;(

@davidhasselhoff: Can I have your autograph? You are my hero!

@jseureau: Sure thing my man, let me know how I can get you one and I'll send it your way quicker than I resuscitate a drowning victim on Baywatch!

I'm upset that you've left out Baywatch Nights.

My favorite of the two will always be Knight Rider. I did watch Baywatch for a while, but it never captured my attention quite like earlier series.

Knight Rider is part of a long line of stories involving heroic individuals or duos who traveled from place to place fighting oppression and protecting the innocent. This lineage includes tales of knights errant of Europe, stories of Robin Hood, as well as of Zorro, The Lone Ranger and cowboys of the American wild west era.

Knight Rider took this premise and added the conceit that Michael Knight's sidekick and his means of transportation were not only one in the same, but was also a highly advanced, semi-sentient artificial intelligence that has been grafted into a sleek looking automobile.

For a teenaged boy just entering puberty in 1982 and who gravitated towards technology, sci-fi, comic book super heroes, cowboy movies and cars, Knight Rider was a perfect storm of everything I enjoyed.

vote-for4vote-against

@thetexastwister: Yup, gotta agree. While some stuff was funny, such as KITT being able to open padlocks magically from the parking lot, the actual action was great. I absolutely wanted that car, since I was a young enough kid to still have an imagination, I overlapped KITT onto all fast cars, and then I saw Smokey and the Bandit one time, imagining that as the Knight Rider car made the show so much better.

Personally, I never cared for Baywatch. Who had time to sit and watch something as goofy as that when mysteries were afoot. Knight Rider pushed me to mystery novels as well, such as Sherlock Holmes, Hardy Boys, and other stuff like that. While I never did manage to retain anything about cars, I did retain most other sciences that I came across, and I think Knight Rider was the perfect mix of sci-fi and action that I, as a young boy, had needed to kick me off into that path, even if I can't make KITT for real. :D

@geredeth: Same here, although in my case, Knight Rider put me further on my path towards a career in computer technology.

BTW, to this day I still want to find a black 1982 Pontiac Trans Am with a tan interior and a V-8 engine. I may be too old for a sports car now, but I'll make an exception for this one any day.

vote-for2vote-against

Knight Rider. No contest.
I've always wanted....really wanted.....KITT. (If you're done with him, can I haz him? Pweetty pwease???)
Besides, I have my own bazoongas to juggle around when I run.....I have no desire to watch that in slo-mo on other women. I know firsthand that it can be quite a painful thing to endure....and have almost given myself black eyes as a result. SUPPORT THE BOOBS!!!!! <---a very noble slogan.

@reginafilangee: You sound like a wonderful woman and I hope someday you can find your own KITT. I never owned the original car from Knight Rider, everyone thinks I did because I drove one around for my singing tours. Those were actually replicas made up by the wonderful Catherine Hickland, my wife at the time. Last I know K.I.T.T. was at a museum called "Cars of the Stars Motor Museum" but I'm pretty sure they closed down last year. I'll have to make some calls and see if I can find out where he's being kept for you!

Goodluck on your quest to find KITT and remember to always shoot for the moon because even if you miss you'll be with the stars! Have a Hofftastic night everyone!
