This gave me a great idea: lingerie with gun holsters and sexy bandolier ammo sling(s)

vote-for7vote-against

The lingerie deals are still out there, just not making the popular tab as much as they used to. - http://deals.woot.com/deals/search?q=lingerie&sort=mostrecent

I'd like to know where you're seeing all these "gun" ads being posted.
In another question @shrdlu mentioned the policy on guns has been changed. The only guns posted within a month were all BB guns. (and one chocolate one) ;)

vote-for6vote-against

I'm not allowed to own firearms due to my psychiatrist's orders, but I love my cheapo plastic crosman 760 bb gun.

vote-for13vote-against

In one holster I have my deadly Piraña gun and in the other is my Calamari Surprise! Oh, "Light Bulb."

(This message was sponsored by Despicable Me. Now on DVD and Blu-Ray.)

We need to be careful, next games with M ratings will be blocked.

vote-for9vote-against

It's just too cold for lingerie.

vote-for19vote-against

@caffeine_dude: please change your username. caffeine is not only dangerous, it has addictive qualities as well. people don't know how to control their intake of the substance. it has no place on the pages of this website.

vote-for7vote-against

@pinchecat: Are you with the government? We don't need no stinkin' government forcing to eat and drink what it sees fit!

vote-for10vote-against

Frankly deals are deals, even if someone complains about them. I want to see the gun deals back. Makes it easier when shopping.

vote-for24vote-against

Help! Help! We're being repressed! Did you see that? That's what I'm on about! Did you see woot repressing us? You saw it, didn't you?

We need to enlist BOTH the ACLU and the NRA to defend us against this wootish assault on both our 1st amendment and 2nd amendment rights! Only this time, to make things interesting, let's have the NRA defend our 1st amendment rights, and the ACLU can defend our 2nd amendment rights.

What's that you say? Woot is a privately owned business and we're not guaranteed our rights to free speech, nor our rights to bear arms? I'm not being logical, you say? See? There you go, repressing me again!

vote-for5vote-against

Let me just add for clarification: Woot shouldn't expect to wield power of censorship just because Jeff Bezos (a watery tart if there ever was one) threw a sword at them.

vote-for14vote-against

We need to get all those horrible lingerie deals off of Woot! They are everything that is wrong with Woot! I don't care if they are up-voted via the community because they are popular, they are offensive to me and should be banned! I don't care if this topic has been covered multiple times before times infinity... I'M bringing it up now so all those other posts are invalid and the solutions offered are irrelevant.

The shady characters that purchase this lingerie stuff-- I certainly don't want their pornographic minds around my children. The children! The children! Won't someone PLEASE think about the children! Because it's so much easier to type all this out than to learn to use simple deal filters or to not click on the image of a clothed woman that's smaller than a postage stamp!

vote-for1vote-against

(Cut and Pasted from earlier thread.)

vote-for6vote-against

@matthewjfazio: But Mathew - lingerie leads to children so there IS a direct link.

Besides, if Woot stopped these postings you'd never get to see your family!

vote-for8vote-against

Hehe. Wow, still the same people like @matthewjfazio fighting the good fight.

Because of discussed issue, it's much more rare that I visit deals.woot.com anymore. I suppose I should thank all of the spammers though, since I've found a far superior deal sites which has a much friendlier community that actually understand DEALS. They also don't clutter up their home pages with all those lingerie and sex ads. If you guys want to subject yourselves to that, whatever. It's up to you. I've voted with my feet.

Cheers!

vote-for2vote-against

@ohcheri's check got lost in the mail :)

vote-for7vote-against

@skippykj: OR...guns - with lingerie holsters, WINKWINK. Right? Right.

@drchops: So can a pair of torpedoes, if it's cold out.

vote-for5vote-against

I suppose Woot should take down wine.woot because it makes alcohol consumption look acceptable? Since deals.woot occasionally has wine ads, are they trying to encourage us getting drunk, having sex, and shooting people?

You are ridiculous.

vote-for4vote-against

@tinytimmy: Please re-read Matthew's comment. I think you missed the sarcasm.

"The shady characters that purchase this lingerie stuff-- I certainly don't want their pornographic minds around my children. The children! The children! vote-for4vote-against

@dsentelle: All we are asking is that woot take itself down because of the audience it attracts. Only when woot is unavailable online will decent God fearing people such as tinytimmy and myself return as frequent visitors.

@lavinkga: There is nothing wrong with pornographic postage stamps. Collecting them is a great, if discreet, hobby. It's just not appropriate for children, small animals, adults, large animals, pretty much the anyone in the woot audience. And if I ever ask you to lick the back of a postage stamp for me, RUN!!

vote-for8vote-against

@matthewjfazio: Using filters or exercising the self control to not click on a pornographic postage stamp does not provide me with the emotional payoff of indignation, self-righteous anger, and moral superiority. And if I can't have that, what's the point in interfering with other people or in passing judgements?

vote-for4vote-against

@marcoselmalo: I think this particular horse is dead now.

vote-for4vote-against

Think of the children without guns how will they defend themselves from the zombies. Didn't you see fido or walking dead ?

When I was a kid we had guns in school. You had to clean them, shot to marksman rating, memorize their serial numbers, run around the school with them unloaded over you head whenever you messed up. God to I hate guns.

Think of the children, them not knowing how to safely handle guns is the problem.

vote-for6vote-against

1) This thread was entertaining. Thanks to the usual suspects.

2) Never ceases to amaze the number of people (even people that apparently hang out around here alot) who do not recognize sarcasm.

vote-for10vote-against

@madross: Are the zombies wearing lingerie? Because that would be hot.

vote-for4vote-against

@magic cave: Maybe for you, my friend. I'm still enjoying it; this thread is for entertainment purposes only. Professional sarcasticians (sarcasologists?) on a closed track. Don't try this at home. If you mean in terms of the woot side of things, I've been convinced to let them work things out without my obnoxious input.

vote-for2vote-against

Seriously, how do you not see the white trash lingerie postings here? And honestly, boo hoo if there are gun ads posted once a month.

vote-for1vote-against

@marcoselmalo: There are about a dozen movies like that available on DVD.

It sounds like you should stay out of the strip clubs during the zombie event. Wait you will make a great zombie sounds like you are already focused on a single body part and will only have to refocus onto BRAINNNS!

vote-for9vote-against

Personally, I'm offended by the deals for watches. You know what type of numbers they have on the dials? Arabic! Damn Terrorists!!!

These watches are a direct cause of 9/11!

vote-for14vote-against

I'm not offended at all by the lingerie ads, but I hate them. I hate, also, "deals" that are in the same boat as them. The boat I describe is a (mod edit: profanity) sailing vessel filled with items that are, albeit interest-capturing, not well-priced. I hope that boat sinks into a cold, watery grave.

deals.woot is supposed to be a community where people share great prices and deals on items. It's not supposed to be a community where people share great items- Woot!ing a deal should mean you think the item is priced at a great value, and you want to share the value of the deal with others.

The lingerie ads should be removed because, well you said it yourself: THEY ARE ADS. They are not deals. If they were on sale for a great price, I'd be more than happy to Woot! them myself. However, every lingerie 'deal' I've seen has been crappy ugly lingerie that is way overpriced.

Bottom line: This isn't the place for you to promote an item just because you like it, irregardless of price. Go back to Digg.

vote-for13vote-against

It's not that they were offensive, it's that they were spam. Every tenth item on this site was another ad for Ocheri.

vote-for1vote-against

Based on popular opinion (that is based on the lingerie being so popular) it's staying.

Now how about we stop beating this dead horse...again.

vote-for3vote-against

@tinytimmy: Then why are you back here, commenting?

@magic cave: You're wrong-- it can never, NEVER be beaten dead enough. History repeats itself.

@schen820: You too are wrong-- If you've ever shopped Victoria's Secret you'll find that these are deals, and quality depends on the line that you purchase. Of course, this topic has been beaten to death as well, but fine folks like yourself continue to bring the "not a deal" topic up.

vote-for2vote-against

@oatlord: Statistically not true-- also yet another beaten to death topic.

@mtm2: LOL-- With these commentators? Who are you kidding?!? :)

"Pornographic Postage Stamps" is going to be my new Xbox live screen name...

vote-for7vote-against

@matthewjfazio: Lol, just for grins, I looked back to the main site, and lo and behold, sitting 8 slots down from the top: Ocheri's ad for some Fluffy zebra robe junk.

On a hunch that it's not an actual deal and instead spam, I did a google search for it and found a cheaper priced one at 35 bucks. The one on this site is listed at 44.

Hideous junk either way though.

vote-for6vote-against

@oatlord: Hideous? On this item, agreed. But PLEASE don't be the guy who finds the one or two exceptions to the rule and presents them as the standard. Also, keep in mind that most of the time OhCheri doesn't charge for shipping.

In another thread, someone quoted a lower price for an identical piece of lingerie but failed to account for shipping, which then placed the item about $6 more than OhCheri's deal... So while that point hasn't been beaten to death like the topics listed above, it sure has been discussed already.

A lot of folks probably think I'm an OhCheri shill (if you're unfamiliar with the joke that my mom models every single ad for them and the work is putting me through college) and I do buy lingerie from other sites, but OhCheri's been really nice and friendly on a few returns I've made; wrong size, wrong taste of the wife's. It's the customer service that keeps me going back.

(OK, also seeing the wife wearing this stuff keeps me going back as well.)

vote-for4vote-against

@oatlord: I googled the item # and couldn't find it. I can't find the ocheri type for less than $64.95- except on ocheri's site.
Could you put a link to it? You could also post the deal if you wanted to. :)

vote-for2vote-against

I just wanted to point out that even if Victoria's Secret charges more, their models are much more hot than the ohcheri models. If ohcheri had sexier models, perhaps a lot of these complaints would go away. Seriously, I'd much rather look at matthew's sister than his mom.

vote-for4vote-against

@oatlord: One person's spam is another person's deal.

Also, whether something is a deal or a good value can be based on things other than price. This is something that seems to be beyond the grasp of some wooters, most notably the Deal Police recruits.

vote-for3vote-against

HA! Logged in today, and the second item down: "Sheer long sleeve blouse with button front for $15.99 + free shipping"

SPAM. Or is this lingerie.woot.com?

vote-for6vote-against

@oatlord: Seriously, how is it spam? Because you don't like it? It's there near the top (or was, because it's gone now*) because people are clicking on it and voting on it.

If you bother to read the threads, you'd know that woot has controls in place to keep deal posters from gaming the system.

*It was most likely removed because a few prudes that frequent the site (and are always threatening to leave), and there is a mod or mods with similar "moral values" that use this as an excuse for deletion. But whatever. If nothing else, this shows that woot does have mechanisms in place for dealing with the deals you don't like.

vote-for7vote-against

@oatlord: FYI, we post a deal every day and have for more than 6 months and have no plans to change anything. We appreciate the click and the comment as it helps us become popular :-)

@marcoselmalo We did some (bad) photoshop to try to bring the deal mentioned above into the Woot guidelines, apparently not too successfully. Thank you for your support!

Happy Holidays!

vote-for3vote-against

@ohcheri: That a girl, ocheri! Customer complaints about you be damned! That's how you run a business.

vote-for6vote-against

@oatlord: CUSTOMER complaints are always answered promptly. Please see our Ratepoint reviews:

vote-for10vote-against

@ohcheri: You guys are the Zappos of thongs. :D

vote-for2vote-against

@marcoselmalo: Woohoo! Our new tagline, thanks!

vote-for5vote-against

@ohcheri: Oatlord had the facts/rules pointed out to him, but instad of gracefully bowing out of the discussion he still feels the need to get the last word in (sort of like an ex-girlfriend of mine, but I digress.) I do like his username, though!

The nay-sayers never, EVER understand that commenting on the deals they think objectionable only up-votes them in popularity. History repeats itself, again and again.

Which is yet ANOTHER point beaten to death.

See? this is why we're doomed as a race, and the terrorists win.

"The Zappos of Thongs" gets my vote.

vote-for4vote-against

@matthewjfazio: I say we give Oatlord the last word. Actually, I insist!

vote-for4vote-against

@matthewjfazio: Ok sure, why not: Ocheri is not going to sleep with you just because you defend her spam on a sub-rate internet deals site.
