questionssaveology...scam? 3 weeks and no ray-bans.

vote-for22vote-against
vote-for14vote-against

There is a reason why all of their deals are only eligible to first time purchasers, because nobody is gonna buy from them after the first time.

vote-for2vote-against

@lichme: Ah!...I even asked for my money back but Saveology says once they sell you the 'certificate' they have no control.
Yeah...definetly not buying from them again...$105 for nothing...

vote-for7vote-against

@undrpsi: there is always the dispute option

I mean, I can sell your certificates to go get free stuff from my neighbor's house, but it doesn't mean that he's going to let you actually have anything. Sure, I can say "Sorry, I sold that to you and you got what you paid for..." all I want, but if you weren't actually able to get the item with it, then it's the same as stealing.

I'd contact my credit card company about it. One of two things will happen. Either they'll give you your money back, or they will (SURPRISE!), get them un-stuck from Customs.

vote-for8vote-against

I've not purchased from Saveology so I can't speak to them specifically, but I have done a fair amount of international shipping. If they really are stuck in customs, another 2-3 weeks isn't crazy at all.

Trying to get something through customs once they've flagged it is like trying to get someone with a recently poked out eye, who's so drunk they can't remember their own name and are then put in a room without a computer or internet to write you an email that is coherent. They'll win out eventually (once sobriety sets in and they leave the room for somewhere with a PC), but it's going to be a long, arduous process.

Or it could just be a scam.

vote-for2vote-against

@undrpsi: Don't ask for your money back. Dispute it. The claim that they sold you a "certificate" is nonsense, hoping to put you off until it's too late to dispute the charge. (After 60 days.)

The law doesn't allow them to charge your credit card before they ship. Go to The FTC website for help with what you can do at this point.

vote-for6vote-against

@rhmurphy: it is not illegal to charge a credit card before shipping. Your own link states that some CREDIT CARD ISSUERS may prohibit this practice.

"In addition, many credit card issuers have policies against merchants charging a credit card account before shipment."

In my experience, I always get charged before an item ships, that's how they pay for shipping.

vote-for3vote-against

@rhmurphy: because saveology only sold a certificate, there is no shipping involved in that transaction, so your point is somewhat moot.

sounds to me like it's a groupon idea, but without all of the support and decent customer service that comes along with groupon. went to check out saveology myself and all i got was "Application Error: An error occurred in the application and your page could not be served. Please try again in a few moments. If you are the application owner, check your logs for details." Awesome.

vote-for3vote-against

@smtatertot13: I don't know about you but I often close one eye when alcohol is making it impossible to focus both. I would imagine that poking one out could potentially be a more painful alternative.

vote-for4vote-against

@kamikazeken: Well, yes. You can charge for shipping when you actually have the item to ship. If not, you have the option of not processing the card transaction (which is what most legitimate vendors do) to wait until you have stock. Or, charge immediately, but there are limits. If you charge right away, then the timers start as given in the page I linked to. Given that they've admitted that they can't deliver, you refuse the delay and they MUST refund. No choice.

I don't care if this company sold a "certificate" for a product. They've got to deliver the product, not an IOU. If they won't refund, dispute it. As enough people do that, their credit card processor will dump them.

vote-for4vote-against

Rats, too late to edit my last reply..

@kamikazeken is right - it's not illegal to charge right away, it's just against the credit card companies policies in some cases.

Apologies for the error, thanks for the correction. Mea culpa.

vote-for1vote-against

Saveology sucks. I have not received the glasses either. I sent Saveology a email for refund but they did not even reply me.

vote-for0vote-against

@philips1992: as has been stated, you only have 60 days to dispute a credit card charge. I suggest sending them one last email/phone call saying if your item isn't there within 1 week, you will file a credit card dispute. Then, after that week expires, you have done what can be reasonably expected of yoou by the credit card company, and it's time to file a dispute.

vote-for1vote-against

@philips1992: same issue here. They offer money back or wait 3 weeks more. Say this after three weeks waiting it, is no fair

vote-for1vote-against

Glad but also not that it's not just me...wow!

vote-for0vote-against

Hey everyone,

I work for Saveology and we just informed customers who purchased the deal of the following:

The merchant had a delay in shipment, but rest assured they will be delivered within the next 2 to 3 weeks.

For the inconvenience, we have uploaded $5 Saveology Dollars into the accounts of those who purchased this deal.

Next Steps: If you have redeemed your voucher, no further action is needed. If you have not redeemed your voucher, please do and note the glasses will arrive in 2 to 3 weeks to the shipping address you provide on the redemption site. If you do not want to wait and would like a refund, please email us at customerservice@deals.saveology.com, with REFUND RAY BAN in the subject line, and your refund will be processed immediately.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

vote-for0vote-against

I too ordered Ray-Bans through this deal but it was not through Saveology, it was through Personal Rewards. It has been 4 weeks and no sunglasses. I had emailed Personal Rewards multiple times and I FINALLY got a response saying they'd check into it but I never got an answer. I emailed Dealpigg and after two weeks of waiting for an answer was told that "due to overwhelming response" these are backordered and I was given NO indication when I would be receiving them. I think I am going to call my credit card company because who knows how many months it will be or if I will ever get these. WORST. DEAL. EVER.!

vote-for0vote-against

I too ordered the glasses. I received an email yesterday saying that they are backorder. I ordered them on April 8. Let me know if anybody gets the sunglasses

vote-for0vote-against

Any luck with the Ray ban? Its been almost a month now and nothing yet.. Did anyone try contacting them...

vote-for1vote-against

Just got this email... pretty ridiculous, never again. You are going to purchase them up front the next time? Thanks. I wouldn't expect these to come anywhere close to 2 to 3 weeks.

"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience regarding your Ray Ban order. We were notified that the shipment has been delayed another 2 to 3 weeks. At this time, you may cancel your order by replying to this email with REFUND RAY BAN in the subject line and your refund will be processed immediately. If you do wish to wait, your glasses will be shipped as soon as we receive them. We understand that you were looking forward to wearing your new Ray Bans this summer, which is why we will make the same great deal live again once Saveology receives the glasses.

Saveology has made a business decision to buy these glasses outright from the merchant so we will have them in stock when the deal goes live again. We will make this deal live to you first before we open it to the public."

vote-for1vote-against

JONATHANOLI

It has been 3 weeks since your comment on the ray ban saveology. Could you update?

vote-for1vote-against

zfrog: they sent out another email on 5/18 saying that it was delayed ANOTHER 2-3 weeks. They have no clue when it is actually shipping.

vote-for1vote-against

Well, don't know if I am stubborn or what...but I am still going to wait on my 2 sets...Figure I have back up with the emails AND I used Amex to pay for it...they are really good about recovering money from clueless or shifty retailors...know from experience.

vote-for0vote-against

I dont even get any updates from them through email... Still waiting... If anyone gets it please update us..

vote-for1vote-against

Got an email over 10 days ago promising an update within 24-48 hours. Not shocked when I didn't receive one. STAY AWAY FROM SAVEOLOGY THEY DO NOT HONOR THEIR DEALS.

vote-for1vote-against

Atlas got an email from usps that Saveology has shipped my Ray ban glasses. I dont know if its true but never got any confirmation from Saveology.,

vote-for1vote-against

@calebbigfoot: did you ever receive your ray bans ?.. I'm in the same boat

vote-for0vote-against

FYI I ordered something else from Saveology and it arrived just fine. I just don't think they were prepared for this large amount of purchases

vote-for2vote-against

My ray bans came yesterday and they are not real raybans. Easy to detect that they're fake Ray-Ban don't ever waste your money on saveology. First clue that they were fake was the label said that the value was only $19.20. Second clue they are fake, from Hong Kong. Third clue theyre fake well it's obviously, look at the packaging and the glasses themselves. Luckily i got my money back before they came. If your cleaning cloth is dark gray and the Ray bann logo is faded you're one hundred percent guaranteed that they're fake

vote-for0vote-against

Total scam. I just emailed to cancel mine after hearing they are fake. I recommend everyone lodge a complaint to the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en
Dishonest companies like this should be punished.

vote-for0vote-against

Am i screwed if mine already shipped?

vote-for2vote-against

Well, I just called Saveology, told them I wanted a refund on my yet undelivered Ray-Bans. Jareeta (?) said they had been shipped to me. I told her that I had been assured 3 other times that they had shipped and later it turned out that wasn't true. She said 'yeah, since dealpigg is actually the seller they had to go by what they say'. I told her that was fine...still wanted my refund. She asked me to hold...that was 27 minutes ago...still on hold..she hasn't even picked the line back up...
...What a freaking scam...can we not get the Woot Deals Gods involved with this? I was getting 4-6 emails a day from saveology (till I blocked them) after this order....At first I would respond to the help address on all the ads asking if they had any idea about the shipping on my first Saveology order (I know..just being pissy...email me 4 or 6 times a day for 3 months..and you haven't shipped my first order?).
Anyway...I will NEVER order from these jokers again...

vote-for2vote-against

hahah...28 minutes (she must have seen my post about being on hold) and she picks up. She said her supervisor has authorized a refund. She had to check the master list of shipped orders. WOW..really? You mean you can't send us an email but you keep a master list of what's shipping and when? Where did that come from? Everytime I asked I was told Dealpigg.com had all the info and they didn't...

Long story short...I told her the word on the street is these are fake. She immediately quoted the company line that "...Savelology is commited to bringing the best deals to the market and they do research to make sure these products ARE as advertized..." When I reminded her that the REASON or EXCUSE they gave about the shipping was that Dealpigg.com was the seller and everything went through them and they had no control...she just asked if I needed anything else (in other words she ignored the question)...what a joke....

vote-for1vote-against

What a nightmare this has been. I ordered mine via deals.boston.com, still no word on shipping. Just wanted to thank everyone who has been keeping this thread alive, it's been one of the only sources of information on this foolishness.

Has anyone else seen product arrive yet? Are we definitely looking at obvious knock-off?

vote-for1vote-against

The fact that these are now being determined to be fakes is a fitting ending to the debacle that this purchase has been. I have been ordering products off the internet since 1993 and this is by far the biggest cluster ** I have ever seen. I have already given Saveology a bad rating on reseller ratings and will also do so on the BBB website. I still have not received the product BTW.

vote-for1vote-against

Just requested that my order be canceled, will see what happens.

vote-for1vote-against

Ami the only one so far htat has received their glasses. The other indicator that they are fake is that the label at the bottom of the box looks nothing like a Ray bans label is definitely a Hong Kong label. I wonder how I can post some pictures

vote-for1vote-against

@pridetv: Still haven't revived mine which were ordered via deals.boston.com. I'd be interested in seeing pics of yours. Have you made contact with dealpigg/saveology? Or are you just taking the loss?

Also, I know people have discussed FTC and BBB complaints. But shouldn't this be going to customs as well? Seems they would be interested in an american based company with knowledge of a manufacturer/distributor of counterfeit goods as well shipping information for counterfeit products still in transit.

vote-for0vote-against

Here is a direct contact info for their "director of business operations"

Daphne Fernandes
Director of Business Operations
dfernandes@saveology.com

I suggest we all email directly or call and get our orders cancelled. Also, please use the FTC complaint link above. If this company is selling fake merchandise it's breaking the law.

vote-for0vote-against

Update:
Called a "Tonya" in customer support since Daphne Fernandes stopped replying to emails. Her manager Maria "Espinoza" is issuing me a refund and it should, "show up in a few days".
I told her to send me a confirmation email today.

I urge you all to file an FTC complain. BBB does not do anything. They send a letter, the company responds that's it. The BBB has no legal authority whatsoever. Half the time people don't even think to look at BBB ratings before they shop. The FTC IS the authority on trade and consumers related issues in the US and if this company is scamming people they are the ones to go to. Enough FTC complaints and this company will be put on their radar.

phew. Hopefully this is over and done with (for me).

vote-for1vote-against

I emailed Daphne Fernandez, RayBans company to see if they are aware of this, Customer Service at Saveology and Bradsdeals since they are the ones that advertised the link back in April. So far I have heard nothing but I only emailed yesterday. I will keep you posted.

vote-for1vote-against

Thanks for the updates guys.
I decided to call Saveology today and was issued a refund rather quickly/easily. (Well they claim they will process it - so I'll update once I actually get my money back)
However, I still can't believe it's been 68 days since I ordered the sunglasses (2 pairs) and not received them.
But I'm glad I was able to find out they were fakes from you guys.

I just came back from Asia and got a pair of decent looking Ray Ban fakes for $16. Glad I didn't pay the $55 (x2) through this deal.

I agree with some kind of response. class action law suit? This is ridiculously lousy of them.

vote-for1vote-against

In addition to filing a complaint with the FTC, I would also suggest filing one with US Customs who would be responsible for keeping counterfeit products from entering US ports.

Mine came yesterday and I got tracking once they shipped

vote-for1vote-against

@ashleyr16: what are your thoughts on authenticity?

vote-for0vote-against

The response I received from RayBan is this
"Thanks for the email. We appreciate your interest in Ray-Ban. I do not see the site that you listed on our most current list of authorized online dealers. We will not be able to vouch for the product that they offer."

The response from Daphne I recieved is
Dear customer,

Saveology has not purchased counterfeit products from anyone. Unfortunately we cannot control some of the posts on websites made by others.

We have processed your refund per your request. Please allow 3 – 5 business days for the credit to appear on your credit card.

Thank you,

Good luck -I hope I get the refund ASAP!

vote-for1vote-against

It would be helpful the people who claim to have received their product could post pics showing what they believe shows them to be counterfeit.

vote-for0vote-against

I honestly think mine are real. I will take pics tonight and post them. I looked at a bunch of websites and photos and they look legit. They feel hefty, they have metal hinges, they say made in Italy, they have the "RB" etched on the right lens and have the copyright symbol on all the products.

vote-for1vote-against

I received the same email:

Dear customer,

Saveology has not purchased counterfeit goods. Unfortunately we cannot control postings on the internet.

We have processed your refund per your request. Please allow 3 – 5 business days for the credit to appear on your credit card statement.

Thank you,

Hopefully people that have received them get authentic merchandise. I had lost complete faith in the transaction so I am relieved that the order is canceled. Glad to know that in the end they cared enough to send a form letter. What a joke.
