I think Wii games look fine on my 52" Samsung 1080p set.

I can't say about the TV aspect, but in regards to hardware, there is no difference between any of them.

Keep in mind that the Wii U is coming out late 2012 and is in HD.

They looks decent enough on my 47" 1080p LCD Insignia. The Wii isn't HD, the most you can get is 480p with the component cable.

Thanks for the input, everyone. I'll probably pick one up. I know it won't be as nice to look at as my PS3/360, but so long as it isn't painful, I'll be looking forward to the exclusives (as well as the classics). If only the Wii U weren't so far away (although I wonder how expensive that is going to be)... Thanks again for the help.

It makes it easier to see what a mistake Nintendo made in not selling a system that supported anything above 480p.

@wootbretz: Worldwide sales figures

Wii – 86.01 million as of 31 March 2011
Xbox 360 – 55 million as of 4 June 2011
PlayStation 3 – 50 million as of 31 March 2011

What mistake?

It isn't terribly painful on an HDTV, but just as long as you know it will not be HD you will be ok. I have a 42" and I think it looks fine.

@wootfast: You are unfortunately correct: The Wii still sold quite well, and now that the Wii U will have full HD, they have a huge reason for even recent purchasers of the Wii to buy the new system (myself included).

Regardless of how well the Wii has sold, however, I have always been pretty disappointed that it wasn't at least 720p...

I can't imagine it'll look bad, but it definitely won't be as pretty as a PS3 or Xbox...but that's the difference between HD and 480p.

I had a Wii for a while and used it in both SD and HD on a 32" 1080p Samsung. The difference was really marginal. It was cleaner, but nothing major.

I could see it losing some quality on a larger screen, but a few comments seem to say that's not the case, so yeah. I would say the answer is yes.

I play my Wii on a 42" Panasonic Viera. I bought the component cable (through newegg it was only ~$5) and it looks fine. I'm no graphics snob - plenty of people rip on the Wii for not being HD - but I think it looks fine for the games I play on it.

@wootfast: 50 Million of them are collecting dust I can guarantee that

@wootfast: Great. They sold a lot of systems. But I bet Microsoft and Sony led to more software sales.

Also, Nintendo would have sold at least one more (to me) if they had more than 5 decent games and I could play those 5 decent games in at least 720p.

Well, thanks to all the people that don't plays theirs anymore, I was able to get one for $70. Not a bad deal even if it was just to play all the old gamecube games with friends, but you also get the ability to play a few great Wii exclusives (not many, but enough that it seems like a good price for it). Plus I've heard talk of playing NES, SNES, and Sega games...

On the wii it's pretty easy to play bootleg games & roms.
I play the 360 regularly, and the kids mainly play the wii, and for the games they have, 480p on our 47" led lcd looks fine.

Well, last night I hooked up the new (used) Wii with some component cables, and it actually looked pretty decent while playing SSBB. Maybe it's because I grew up with all the older systems, but the lack of HD didn't bother me at all. Thanks again, everyone, for all the advice.

Just use a component cable and it will look quite good. Probably the best looking system in recent years to be limited to standard definition.
