25 miles from our NHL team...but with traffic on game nights that leads to 1.5 hours in the car. :/

vote-for2vote-against

I think I'm about 5 miles away from the football and baseball stadiums. More like 25 to the NHL/NBA arena.

vote-for2vote-against

NFL, NBA, MLB, or NHL - roughly 100 to 120 miles. Minor league baseball or soccer - 10 miles.

vote-for3vote-against

About 40 minutes to all four major sports venues , MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA. 1.25 hours to get to NASCAR race. Not too far from several NCAA Div 1 schools as well. MLB- AA stadium 1 hour.

vote-for5vote-against

I'd prefer to travel no farther than my living room and save a small fortune and big headache vs. actually attending a game, but I live ~5 miles from "The Murph" where Chargers play, ~10 miles from Padres' stadium.

vote-for2vote-against

Pro team huh? Major or minor. Major is the Spurs about 2 hours and Texans about 3 hours; minor is the Hooks about 20 minutes.

vote-for2vote-against

Nascar is about 60-75 miles, Baseball/ Football about 90-100 miles, umm don't have a clue about Basketball, and rather certain Hockey is well over 500 miles.
To be completely honest these are best guesses, I look at it in time not distance, Racetrack is 50 minutes, the stadiums are in the same area about 90 minutes away.
(I only even know where they are at because of the restaurants in the areas, not much of a sports person)

vote-for3vote-against

30 miles for MLB, NFL, NHL. 250 miles for NBA.

vote-for2vote-against

I live about 3 hours away (Say, 150 miles or so, give or take) from the SF/SJ/OAK area (and am an A's season ticket holder, Let's go Oakland!!!!!). I enjoy the short road trip and spend a lot of time in the area as is.

vote-for3vote-against

About 60 miles from New Orleans and the Saints. I haven't been to a game in years. Love the Saints, but LOVE my LSU Tigers! We much prefer college sports.

vote-for2vote-against

@barkwoot: Looking at a map, my guess would be you live sw of Pittsburgh?

vote-for3vote-against

Nearest pro teams, about 20 miles. PREFERRED pro teams, about 300 miles.

vote-for2vote-against

If you count minors, just over an hour for baseball, hockey, and arena football. The "majors" would be about 4 (Kansas City) to 5 (St. Louis and Minneapolis) hours for baseball and football, and probably about 5 (Minneapolis) to 5 1/2 (Chicago) hours for NBA.

ETA: I know the OP asked for miles, but with the distance I am from everything, it's easier for me to go with time. :)

vote-for2vote-against

@mtw1057: Good guess, but no... Just west of St. Louis. Nearest NBA team would be Indianapolis, with Chicago and Memphis a little over 300 miles away.

vote-for3vote-against

I'm about 30 mins (no traffic) from major NFL, NBA, NHL, MBL, Soccer and two minor league baseball teams as well as several decent colleges. 1.5 hr from closest Nascar race. I'm 2 hrs from the home stadium of my fav NFL team. Lots of other stadiums and races as I go further in most directions, probably closer than some of you have stated as your closest option. One of the things I love about where I live - there is alwyas something to do, and I am close to so many different cities.

vote-for2vote-against

180 miles (a bit over 3 hours) to Kansas City for baseball and football.

380 miles (6 hours) to St Paul MN for the only pro sport I care about, NHL.

vote-for2vote-against

16 miles to Qualcomm Stadium for a Chargers game, 19 miles to Petco Park for a Padres game.

vote-for3vote-against

@msklzannie: I'm putting you right around Oskaloosa Iowa. Am I close?

vote-for2vote-against

About twelve miles for any of the four major sports. The light rail drops off at Mile High (NFL) and the Pepsi Center (NHL, NBA); only a 4-block walk to Coors Field (MLB) from the downtown end of the light rail line.

vote-for2vote-against

Nearest pro team... I think that would be roughly 500 miles from me :\

vote-for2vote-against

About 3.3 miles to drive to Citifield and see the NY Mets.
-

Alternates are:

~13.5 miles to drive to Madison Square Garden and see the NY Rangers (though I'd take the LIRR (train) as it would only be about 30-35 minutes and driving could easily be close to two hours).

Or 15-18 miles (depending on route) to drive to Nassau Coliseum and see the NY Islanders.

Or ~12.5 miles to see the NY Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

Or 22-24 miles (depending on route) to MetLife Stadium for either the Giants or the Jets.

And there are other team sports played in the area as well, though none come to mind immediately.

-
It really is a shame I'm not a sports fan. Of the stadia mentioned above, I've only been to Madison Square Garden and the Nassau Coliseum once each for hockey games and maybe 40 years ago, I was at Shea Stadium (which was replaced by Citifield) for a Mets game.

vote-for2vote-against

Minor league baseball would be a few miles across town, college would be three blocks, give or take a block depending on the sport. True pro (NBA, NFL, MLB) would be two and half hours to Indianapolis or two and a half hours to Chicago.

vote-for2vote-against

I am 217 miles away from my beloved San Francisco Giants... and I will be making that journey Wednesday to catch my third (Giants) game of the season... I have also gone to two A's games, which are a bit farther....

vote-for2vote-against

'bout 22 miles from the Sac Kings. They're just BARELY a real pro team, though.

@tarasadies: You around Fresno?

vote-for2vote-against

We live about 20 miles from several professional teams, including 2 baseball, a basketball, 2 football, a hockey, and a soccer teams. In addition, we have a minor league baseball team less than 5 miles away.

vote-for2vote-against

@kamikazeken: no, we are the other direction.... up by Redding. The Kings are a professional franchise? Who knew?

vote-for2vote-against

About 4 hours for Football/Basketball/Baseball and about 3 minutes for Nascar (not that I'd ever attend such a thing).

vote-for2vote-against

About 20 minutes to the NFL and NBA, 30 minutes to NASCAR. If I was so inclined, it would take me about the same about of time to attend the DNC. Maybe I'll throw my dog in the car and head to the mountains or the beach this week. 3 hours to the beach, 2 to get to the mountains..

vote-for2vote-against

15 miles - NFL Jacksonville Jaguars

vote-for2vote-against

I actually prefer minor league baseball here in Sac to going to the bay area for the A's or Giants, taking the family to san fran is a $400 trip counting gas, bridge tolls, 5 tickets, a coupla beers, and food. AT LEAST $400...

My daughter LOVES going to Stockton to see the the Thunder (Minor league Hockey, ECHL), they're cheap, food prices are reasonable and Stockton does have a nice arena.

vote-for3vote-against

slightly over 400 miles. 6 hour drive time to Denver.

vote-for2vote-against

I'm about 35+/- miles away from both Camden Yards and M&T Bank Stadium, so I can see the O's or the Ravens easily. Though the older I get, the more I prefer staying home and watching the games on TV.

vote-for2vote-against

@baqui63: same here. Yanks, Mets, Giants, Jets, Devils, Rangers, Islanders all within less than, what, 30 - 35 miles?

vote-for1vote-against

@rustybender: Sorry I took so long to reply. Just now going through old emails. You are correct, Oskaloosa is one of the nearest cities to me. I was just in Osky earlier this evening.
